SuperStart! is a high-energy weekend event in which
preteens can learn and grow in their relationships with
friends, leaders and, most importantly, God.
Preteens are at an age where they're starting to take hold of
core ideas for the first times in their lives - they're owning
their own beliefs. They're moving away from the blanket ac-
ceptance of adult moral judgment to the development of
their
own personal values.
The demand for preteen specific ministry has continued to
increase within America's churches over the past decade.
These preteens need more time, space and resources. They
need teaching that is specific to their age group - not too
young (or "boring," as they would say it) and not too old.
CIY's SuperStart! exists to help fill the void for this age
group, and to come alongside the church in a fun, inventive
way to reach students that are often overlooked.

I wanted to take a
moment to thank
you for all you
have done with this
year’s tour. I have
been an adult leader
for several years at
the Bloomington
event and have had
the privilege to at-
tend with two of
my four children...

the SuperStart! Band is a passionate group of individuals who love to
lead students in live, high-energy, age-appropriate worship. students will
have the opportunity to engage in musical worship during each session
throughout the event.
the SuperStart! program is, year after year, everyone’s favorite part about the
weekend! SuperStart! weaves a story throughout each of its three sessions
through an interactive and engaging drama. throughout the weekend, your
students will learn alongside the characters on stage, how to apply biblical truth
and amplify the call on their lives to be Kingdom Workers.
the SuperStart! Amp Up! takes place 25 minutes before each session and features
large group games that allow for every student and their leaders to be involved.
the Amp Up! is hosted by an emcee who not only leads the games, but engages
students with fun, lively nteraction and entertainment (not to mention gives away
some sweet prizes!).
Small Group times are specifically designed for each group to connect and discuss what
they've been experiencing during the sessions.
plug n' play is a three-hour period on saturday meant for recreation and fun. the SuperStart!
staff recognizes that preteens, although they desire teaching at a higher level than children’s minis-
try, are still kids with a ton of energy that need time for play. plug n’ play is a time just for that!
each group or their leader chooses their own activity for this time.
the station is the SuperStart! traveling bookstore where your student can
purchase all kinds of SuperStart! gear to remember the event by. merchandise
offered includes: t-shirts, accessories, Bibles, autograph photos, and more.
pricing is communicated to your church’s registering leaders prior to the event.

Our staff does everything we can to provide adult leaders with as much information as we can about
what we’re teaching the students at a weekend event. That’s a great resource for parents as well! As
you get your student ready for the weekend, take some time to read over what they will be learning
and experiencing so that you can partner with us, their youth leaders and many others in praying for
their hearts to be open to the message.
*Adult Leader resources are found on our website www.ciy.com/superstart under the Resources tab
Every group leader handles registration in their own way. Some groups stay the night so the list
below may not completely apply to your student; however, required items are necessary for every
student. You will need to communicate with your church or leader to know how meals and housing
will be handled for your group. Below is a list of requirements as well as a suggested packing list for
your preteen:
Christ in Youth Medical Release form completed and signed by parent or legal guardian
Bible
Clean clothes for Saturday
Basic toiletries (tooth brush, deodorant, etc.)
Money for meals and/or Plug N’ Play activity
(again, communicate with your student’s leader as they may have already handled this
through their registration process)
Spending money for the Station!

We cannot stress enough the power of praying for your student while they are
encountering the Gospel and teachings of Scripture during a SuperStart! event. Below
are a couple of examples of what you can be praying over students at SuperStart!:
1. Christ in Youth’s mission is to amplify the call on students’ lives to be Kingdom
Workers. Your student will be challenged at SuperStart! to make their faith
active. Pray that God would speak clearly into their hearts how they can
become Kingdom Workers in their homes, schools, and relationships.
2. Some students are going to be hearing the Gospel for the very first time at
SuperStart! Pray that it would take root in their lives and they would accept the
message of Jesus.
3. For some students, this is the first time they will be away from what is “familiar” to
them. Pray that any home-sickness would be comforted and not able to distract
them from the teaching they hear.
4. The desire of the SuperStart! staff is to come alongside youth ministers and
leaders and give them an opportunity to build lasting, meaningful relationships
with their students. Pray that God would open communication between
students and their leaders to not only get tough questions answered, but build
the foundations for solid relationships.
5. Without a doubt, what these students hear or experience will bring up questions that
they have. Pray that they would have the courage to ask those questions and the
adult leaders around them would be able to answer those questions with the truth of
Jesus.
