Callum, who is studyingaerospace engineering, saidfamily and friends were scep-tical at first, asking him if itwas a joke.
But now he and ]ay haveofficially signed up, disbeliefhas turned to apprehension.
The boat will have a GPStracker and race organiserswill track them.
Theywill be equipped witha satellite radio, and will usesolar energy to porver theGPS.
"I have seen some videosof people sitting in the cabinwith really harsh weather andit looks horrendous," Caliumadmitted.
"It is just something youhave to deal with and get onrvith it.

Community and eventsfundraising officer for thePrincess Alice Hospice, TimGreen, is certainly impressedwith the pair's mammothattempt.
"What Callum and fay aredoing is truly inspirationaland we wish them both thebest of luck," he said.
"We are so grateful thatpart of the money they raisewiil go to Pdncess AliceHospice. The money raisedfrom challenges such as thisdoes make a real differenceto the care we can provide topatients and their families."

Surbiton Hockey Club,which has pitches in LongDitton, is also celebrating awindfall with E9,S00 to improve access to facilities.
