This course is aimed at field personnel involved in the management of the environment on work sites.

Through theoretical and practical training field personnel will gain the skills to ensure the appropriate management of the environment as part of their site works. This course is compliant with legislative requirements under the Planning and Environment Act (Victorian Planning Provisions: 56.08). The course covers the competency RTD2202A Conduct Erosion and Sediment Control Activities. Australia’s first accredited course in Carbon Accounting is now available via classroom delivery in Melbourne or via online delivery worldwide.

It consists of two units:

• VPAu324 Develop a Carbon Inventory for the Workplace

• VPAu325 Develop a Carbon Report for the Workplace

The first unit covers the methods used to identify and categorise the carbon emissions of an organisation, estimate those emissions and produce a carbon inventory. The second unit covers the methods used to review the carbon inventory of an organisation and produce a contextualised carbon report.

It is conducted over six weeks through three, one-day sessions held at Swinburne’s Hawthorn Campus, Melbourne. Each training session has a dynamic mix of engaging lectures, videos, classroom activities, hands on computer work, industry and student presentations. The two weeks between each class day allow ample time for research and preparation for the assignments.

This is the online version of the ‘Classroom Option’ of Carbon Accounting and the same basic description applies to this course.

The course is conducted over a 12 week period which consists of nine weeks of self paced study and three weeks of assignment work. Each week delivers a mix of required and optional readings, multi-choice assessments, discussion questions and exercises. Additionally, there are six optional two hour tutorials in a virtual classroom conducted with course facilitators on Monday evenings. An average of five hours study per week is required. Assignment work is currently based on a realistic industry scenario.

Sustainability Reporting

This course is suitable for report makers and users, consultants, analysts, professionals and managers involved in CSR, sustainability communications, stakeholder engagement, assurance and disclosure.

The two-day GRI certified training program developed by the Amsterdam based Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) provides skills and knowledge on sustainability reporting including how to produce a best practice sustainability report.

The program has been developed especially to help report makers to use the GRI Framework and GRI reports effectively. GRI is exclusively the most widely adopted sustainability reporting framework globally.

The program will be facilitated by Dr Robyn Leeson, Director net Balance and Ms Gitanjali Bedi, national Centre for Sustainability.

This nationally accredited qualification TAA40104 provides learners with the knowledge and skills to effectively plan, design, organise and conduct training and assessment in the workplace or in a Registered Training Organisation. Suited to those wishing to gain the skills to legally install telecommunications cabling to the public network, including those with any cabling experience or who are currently doing cabling. Electricians and apprentices who have completed 20 core modules are eligible to complete a conversion program consisting of the four modules that make up this course. Experienced cablers will need a preliminary assessment to determine additional modules required. A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) fee is required for formal assessment of RPL eligibility. All assessment fees are included in the course fee with the exception of RPL for non-electricians.

Registration enables electricians and experienced cablers to perform all types of telecommunications cabling (except cabling specialist endorsement) in any type of premises. Additional cost for course references – list provided at the first session.

This course satisfies Part B of the requirements necessary to obtain registration as an Electrical Contractor. It contains the business section of the regulatory requirements. To become a registered electrical contractor you will also need to complete Part A and have public liability insurance.

Disconnect-ReconnectLicence

Applicable for those who have a requirement to connect and disconnect electrical appliances and intend to sit for the Energy Safe Victoria D Examination (former S Licence). It is advised that persons who are considering obtaining a licence should contact Energy Safe Victoria on 9203 9700 to confirm the suitability of the licence for their work requirements prior to commencing the course. Additional fee is payable to Energy Safe Victoria for registration upon successful completion of the examinations.

Designed for those in trades aligned to the electrical trade, such as refrigeration, plumbing and electronic security, who are required to disconnect and reconnect electrical appliances as part of their normal maintenance duties.
