There were eight diploma graduat completing the two year term in · arts and science and one transferring after the Dr. George Wilson was chair- man for the ceremonies and honored Peter Jones, Capilano's first college council chairman, a s the man who first had the idea for a college on the North Shore. Principal Alfred Glen2Sk told · g raduate s he was proud of them and their achi e vements and that, ould be the nucleu s o f a justly proud of their college alma mater. Lesli e Brooks, Dean of In- suction, said he had thr thing s to tell the graduat2S. "We don't know what the fu- tur e of this college will be, one day it could be as large as Simon Fraser and hav e faculty by the hundreds, but no one ever again will have the dis- tinction cf being the first grad- uati'ng class. Never in history can this happen again." Brooks read off the Dean's List, students who had achieved a grad e point average of 3.5 or better out of 4.0 for the spring semester only.
