THE
W IDOW’S SACRIFICE
My daughter, I want to instruct you on how you are to rescue souls through sacrifice and prayer. You will save more souls through prayer and suffering than will a missionary through his teachings and sermons alone. I want to see you as a sacrifice of living love, which only then carries weight before me. You must be annihilated, destroyed, living as if you were dead in the most secret depths of your being. You must be destroyed in that secret depth where the human eye has never penetrated; then will I find in you a pleasing sacrifice, a holocaust full of sweetness and fragrance. And great will be your power for whomever you intercede. Outwardly, your sacrifice must look like this: silent, hidden, permeated with love, imbued with prayer. I demand, my daughter, that your sacrifice be pure and full of humility, that I may find pleasure in it. I will not spare my grace, that you may be able to fulfill what I demand of you.
I will now instruct you on what your holocaust shall consist of, in everyday life, so as to preserve you from illusions. You shall accept all sufferings with love. Do not be afflicted if your heart often experiences repugnance and dislike for sacrifice. All its power rests in the will, and so these contrary feelings, far from lowering the value of the sacrifice in my eyes, will enhance it. Know that your body and soul will often be in the midst of fire. Although you will not feel my presence on some occasions, I will always be with you. Do not fear; my grace will be with you… (Diary, 1767).

NOVEMBER 25TH — LA CRISTIADA MOVIEThe Cristero War, or Cristero Rebellion (1926–29), also known as La Cristiada [la kɾisˈtjaða], was a widespread struggle in many central western Mexican states against the secularist, anti-Catholic and anti-clerical policies of the Mexican government. Fr. Christian will be showing the movie La Cristiada (Spanish Version of “For Greater Glory”) in the parish social hall following the 12:30 Mass (Spanish) on Sunday, November 25—The Feast of Christ the King! Fr. Christian invites all Spanish speaking parishioners and their families to attend and bring an item for a potluck luncheon following Mass. We'll gather for lunch and fellowship and watch this historical movie about Mexico and sainthood (Jose Sanchez del Rio)! Great food, great movie and an excellent chance to get together. Viva el Cristo Rey!

NEW THIRD ORDER DOMINICAN GROUP
STARTING UP IN JANUARY 2019S IGN UP NOW!
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church announces the formation of its own Lay Dominican group to commence in
January 2019. Who are the Lay Dominicans? Lay Dominicans are
one of several recognized “Third Orders” within the Catholic Church. Lay Dominicans are a branch of the Dominican religious order. It is essential to acknowledge that the call to a Third Order is a call to a vocation for the purpose of sanctification of its members. With St. Dominic as its Founder and St. Catherine of Sienna as its Patroness, the Dominican Third Order is an Order of Preachers founded for the salvation of souls based on veritas (truth)! Its four foundational pillars are Prayer, Study, Community, and Preaching. The program is five years in length to reach one’s Final Promise, with meetings once a month at the parish center. Father Christian, himself a Third Order Dominican, will be an integral part of the monthly meetings as the group’s spiritual advisor and mentor. Requirements are that one be a practicing Catholic, be at least 18 years of age, hold a desire to deepen baptismal commitment, and be fully-initiated into the Catholic Church for at least two years.
We encourage all eligible and interested Catholic laity to contact Suanne Then
for any questions or to sign up for the program via email
K OF CCHRISTMAS PARTYTickets are on sale now for the K of C Annual Christmas Dinner party on December 9th. Dinner to be held at the Cliffs of Glassy Mountain clubhouse. Tickets are available before and after Vigil/Sunday Masses. Sales are limited.
