Florida Section Annual Meeting is this Month!!

The Florida Section Annual Meeting is being held this month from July 14th – 16th at the Renaissance World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine Florida. There is still time to register for this 3 day event. You can register by going on the ASCE Florida Section website at www.fl-asce.org The luncheon keynote speaker is Representative Lake Ray, a Professional Civil Engineer and former City Councilman from Jacksonville. The Annual Meeting is the largest event held by the Florida Section of ASCE and draws an attendance from all over Florida, allowing attendees to obtain all 8 PDH’s required for licensure. The technical sessions at the Annual Meeting have something of interest for everyone, including topics in the following areas: Engineering Management, Geotechnical, Water/Wastewater, Transportation and Structures. This month The ASCE Jacksonville Branch in partnership with EWB- USA will hold its 1st Annual Scholarship Bowling Tournament. The ASCE / EWB Scholarship Bowling Tournament will be held July 28th at Latitude 30 (located near Philips Hwy & Southside Blvd). If you haven’t heard already ASCE is having its 2011 Officer Elections. Most of you should have received your election ballots by mail but If you haven’t don’t worry you can vote online at

There are several open positions that you will be casting your vote on. One of the positions that is currently up for grabs is Region 5 - Director
The Jacksonville Branch Board of Directors has officially endorsed Jorge Jaramillo for the position of Region 5 Director. We encourage all members to review information for both candidates and cast your ballot in the election.
Jorge Jaramillo is a Past President of the Florida Section, and a Past Governor of Region 5. He is running for Region 5 Director in this year’s elections. His vision statement, biological statement and endorsements can be found on the ASCE website.
Jorge will be one of two candidates on the ballot for this position, William Grogan, Region 5 Governor from Mississippi is the other candidate running for Region 5 Director. His candidate information can also be found on the ASCE website.

The 1st Annual ASCE / EWB Scholarship Bowling Tournament will be held July 28th at
Latitude 30 (located near Philips Hwy & Southside Blvd). Please RSVP by July 8th so
t-shirts can be order. Price is $20 (which includes 2 games, shoes, a drink ticket, and a
tshirt). You, your company, or your professional society can sponsor a spot on the t-
