EarDrUM is the sum of its parts. I am always more comfortable in groups because credit is given where credit is due, but sometimes my vision does not fit neatly into the group dynamic. On my solo records, I am the frontman for a group of artists, lovers, poets, soldiers and regular everyday folk that make up my body of work. Of course, first and foremost, all praises and accolades are fowarded to the Most High, our creator, the spirt that connects us. I speak of God often in my music, because we all try to achieve a greater understanding. The best and brightest representations of God in my life are my children, Amani Fela and Diani Eshe, who perform a rhyme written by Amani on this record. I love you two with my entire constitution. Amani, time to man up, I got your back. Diani, you are growing into a wonderful young lady. To my mom, Brenda Greene, thank you for bringing me here, and taking this ride with me. To my dad Perry Greene, thank you for being you. As I get older, I realize more and more how much you have influenced me, and I could not ask for a greater father. To my extended and immediate family, Jamal (keep sitting by the door, tell me what they say), Lori, Mama, Joann, Cookie and family, Taiwo, Kehinde, Lloyd, Abena and family I love you. Cynthia, you are in my heart and soul. I love you. Corey Smyth, you have been there from the days when no one was there, till now, and you have stood strong behind me and beside me. You have become family. Let’s get it for real and be who we are destined to be. Dave Dar, congrats! Dave NY, you have been a better friend than anyone can wish for, thank you fam. Courtney Brown, you are a godsend. Makeba, thank you for everything. LG, listen . . . say no more. JuJu, Zean, Louis, Kev, Les, Flatbush—all day you already know. Rubix, stay hyphy. Thank you Midori, Ifeoma, Brandon, Kyara, Musiq Soulchild, Double J, Justin Timberlake, Coi, Eric Krasno, Adam Deitch, Eric Coomes, Fyre Dept., Roy Ayers, Kanye West, Donna and Brian at SMT. Madina, whatever you need, I got you. Madlib, your music took me to new heights, on Liberation and Eardrum. Thank you brother, for the inspiration. Jean Grae, what can I say! There have been times when I was stuck creatively, and I put on Jeanius or This Week, and it brings me right back. I love you for that. To Krondon, Mitchy Slick and Phil da Agony, thank you for the support. SAS is the gang homey. Xzibit, I got so much love for you as an artist and as someone who has supported me. Always know that. Thank you Mos Def (1st and 15th?), Hi-Tek (full circle?) Dion, J Rawls, Terrace Martin, Battlecat, Swiff D, DJ Khalil, Chace Infinite, Planet Asia, Young Guru, DJ Chaps, Candice Anderson, Ephrem Jenkins, Tarrie Torae, Sonia Sanchez, Donte, Nine, James Poyser, Questlove, Black Thought, Jazzy Jeff, The Roots, Common, Cut Chemist, Nick Speed, Just Blaze, UGK, Cory and Mike Mo, GT, Rob G, Big Von, Little Brother, Ebro, Sunny, Raheem DeVaughn, Norah Jones, Leela James, Maurice Brown, Delwynn Sykes, Darryl Phillips, Roscoe Umali, Travis, Oji, Pete Rock, Kendra Ross, La, Brooklyn Boys Choir, Steve B, Sha Kim, Latifah, Lyfe Jennings, J Dilla (rest in peace brother), Akrobatik, Sa-Ra, AKidCalledRoots, Shah, Nick Cannon, Affion, Byze One, Truly Odd, Goldfinger, DJ Soul, Amanda Diva, Cipha Sounds, Mr. Maurico, Reg Hawkins, Green Lantern, Ed Lover, Angie Martinez, RT, Res, Alex Thomas, Deray Davis, will.i.am, Black Eyed Peas, the Beastie Boys, Sizzla, KRS-ONE, Pharoah Monch, Styles P, Dara, D Prosper. Thank you Naim Ali, Liza Joseph, Pat Sabatini, Denise Williams, Kevin Black, Savalas, CJ, Cassandra, Mitra, Michael, Craig, Christian, Ayal, Jeremy, Penny, Joe, Ben, Brennan, Los (thanks for always keeping it 100). Thank you Bert Padell and Michelle Faieta of Padell Nadell Fine & Wienberger, Doug Davis, Motisola Zulu, Sanaa Harris and Marc Joaquin of the Davis Firm, Simone Smalls and Nyle Washington of Susan Blond Inc., Brian Manning of CAA, Danny Zook of Alien Music.
