Steinbrenner Field…Mike Ford (3-for-4, 2B, 3RBI, R) led the charge for Tampa, delivering game-tying and go-ahead RBIs…Austin Aune (1-for-4, HR, 3RBI, R) smashed a three-run home run in the 8th, his first as a Tampa Yankee…LHP Dan Camarena (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching three scorelees innings (1H, 0BB, 1K)…LHP Ian Clar- kin took home a no-decision in his first start of the year (5IP, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 2K). VS. LAKELAND: Today will be the third of 20 games scheduled between the Tampa Yankees and the Lakeland Flying Tigers in the 2016 season. The Yankees cur- rently lead the series, 2-0. Last year, Lakeland won the season-series, 11-9. In games played at Joker Marchant Stadium, the T-Yanks finished 7-3. 2015 REVIEW: The Tampa Yankees finished the 2015 regular season in 3rd place with an overall record of 66-72. Shortstop Tyler Wade was named to the Postsea- son All-Star Team after hitting .280 (103 hits) with 2 HR, 28 RBI and a .349 OBP in 98 games with Tampa. The Charlotte Stone Crabs captured their first Florida State League championship in four games over the Daytona Tortugas. Kean Wong ended a 13-inning marathon in game four by drawing a bases-loaded walk to beat the ‘Tugas, 3-2. THE 2016 TY COACHING STAFF: The New York Yankees Player Development office officially announced the 2016 Tampa Yankees Field Staff. The team’s new Manager will be Patrick Osborn with Pitching Coach Tim Norton and Defensive Coaches Antonio Pacheco and Michel Hernandez. Returning from the 2015 season are Hitting Coach Tom Slater, Strength and Conditioning Coach Joe Siara, and Athletic Trainer Michael Becker. OSBORN ANNOUNCED AS NEW MANAGER: The New York Yankees named Patrick Osborn as the newest manger of the Tampa Yankees. Osborn enters his third season in the Yankees organization and his first with Tampa. He managed the Staten Island Yankees in 2015 leading the club to the NYPL Championship (41-34). In 2014 he managed the GCL Yankees and led the club to a first-place finish in the Northeast Division (35-25). He spent three seasons (2011-13) as manager of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, a member of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and led the Blue Crabs to three consecutive postseason berths. HURRY UP! This season, MiLB has implemented Pace of Game Regulations for the Florida State League. All FSL ballparks are now required to have one timer in the outfield and two timers behind home plate between the dugouts. The new regulations include a 2:25 minute count down between half-innings, a 15-second pitch timer, a 30-second mound visit timer and several other miscellaneous Pace of Game procedures. SOJO ENTERS FSL HALL OF FAME: The Florida State League Hall of Fame Committee honored Luis Sojo by including him in the 2015 Class of Inductees. The seventh induction ceremony occurred on November 10, 2015, at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach. Sojo managed the Tampa Yankees for seven seasons and accumulated a .528 winning percentage and a Florida State League record 504 wins. He led the Tampa Yankees to the FSL title in 2009, and was named the league’s “Best Managerial Prospect” by Baseball America. Sojo played in parts of seven seasons with the New York Yankees and contributed to four World Series Championships (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000). He drove in the title-clinching run in Game 5 of the 2000 World Series against the New York Mets. He worked as a coach for the Yankees at the Major League level in 2004 and 2005. Sojo is part of an elite group of players to record 1,000 hits in MLB and the Venezuelan Winter League, and managed the Venezuelan National Team in the 2006, 2009 and 2013 World Baseball Classic. Sojo was originally signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent in 1986, and spent parts of 13 seasons with five different teams.
