Learn more at www.iclei.org/cityposters2015 A contribution for the ICLEI World Congress 2015 Tangerang Selatan Indonesia Meeting the challenge of climate change through low-emission development The Urban-LEDS Satellite City of Tangerang Selatan is on its way to achieving its low-carbon visions via the following measures: • Public transportation has been enhanced in the Tangerang Selatan area via the City’s feeder bus network, which provides services between Tangerang and Jakarta, in turn benefiting the community, while reducing private vehicle use. • Green building regulation and pilot projects are under development in an effort to push developers to apply sustainable concepts in the built environment. • Monitoring and evaluation of waste treatment has also been developed with the application of some innovation to preserve the environment and to perform sustainability indicators for the city. Urban-LEDS Satellite City of Tangerang Selatan Lessons learned and replication Strengthening interdepartmental awareness on climate change issues helps achieve low-carbon development measures. The main challenges the City has encountered include the varying levels of understanding and awareness of environmental issues within the municipality. Therefore the City is engaging in capacity building, training and awareness programs to improve its departmental knowledge. Developing partnerships between the local government and institutions such as research, universities and the private sector has helped to further the City’s activities. It may increase awareness of the impact of climate change to the city as an effort to mitigate. In particular, these partnerships have helped the community to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste. Urban-LEDS 위성 도시 탕게랑 셀라탄은 다음의 활동을 통해 저탄소 비전 실행을 도모하고 있다. • 대중 교통 개선의 일환으로 탕게랑과 자카르타 구간을 운행하는 탕게랑 셀라탄의 버스 공급 네트워크가 구축되어 지역사회에 혜택을 제공하고 자가용 사용을 줄이고 있다. • 개발 업체들이 지속가능한 개발을 할 수 있도록 그린 빌딩 규정 및 파일럿을 개발하고 있다. • 환경 보전을 위한 혁신과 지속가능성 지표 적용을 통해 폐기물 처리 모니터링 및 평가가 이루어지고 있다.
