BIOGRAPHY

Tao heads up the Water Utility and Agriculture business unit at Grundfos as Group Vice President. He has a background as a venture capitalist, entrepreneur and consultant, and brings to Grundfos his accrued expertise in strategy creation, innovative product design, and data driven business development. Tao is a Grundfos ambassador on climate change and sustainable water technologies as speaker, panelist and negotiator. He is passionate and active in pushing the water agenda and has signed milestone agreements with collaborators Richard Branson and Jose Maria Figurines in the Caribbean under the Carbon War Room partnership. He is actively participating Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) started with Ida Auken, which recently resulted in an agreement in Kenya between Mombasa Water Utilities, Danida and Grundfos with support from Minister of the Environment Kirsten Brosbøl. Before coming to Grundfos, Tao was a partner at the Venture Capital firm Vækstfonden. He worked with early-stage technology investments and was responsible for screening as well as investment and portfolio management. Prior to Vækstfonden, he co-managed the technology transfer unit at Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy and lead the assessment of commercially viable technologies within the Polymer, Plasma Physics and Technology Research departments. Several technologies were successfully spun out into viable start-up companies or licensing deals. Earlier in his career, Tao worked in the consulting industry, first serving as technology expert to clients such as Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, and later co-founded and served as managing director of Rainier Technology (acquired by Hewlett-Packard), where he secured major contracts fortune 500 companies like Siemens and Microsoft which was instrumental in growing the company from 20 to 200 employees prior to it’s acquisition. Tao has served on the board of directors for Novitell, Rainier Technology and Betterboards and has sat on numerous advisory boards in innovative growth companies. He holds an Executive MBA from SIMI and has studied executive courses at Harvard Business School. RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
