Australian Government Funding: $140 million Australian Government: $140 million NSW: $258 million Problem Description The Australian Government and NSW Governments are committed to reducing the state’s road toll and investing in works that save lives and prevent serious injuries. The Australian Government is investing $140 million in targeted road safety projects, building on NSW’s $258 million investment in its Safer Roads Program in 2020-21. Australian Government funding includes: $117 million for the Safer Roads Program – prioritises funding to develop and deliver road safety infrastructure projects across NSW (regional projects only). Transport for NSW directly delivers or coordinates local councils to deliver projects under the Program. $23 million for the mass action rollout of rumble strips (audio - tactile line marking) as part of the Safer Roads Program – will improve road safety and reduce incidence of road crashes through the roll out of mass action infrastructure treatments to address run- off-road and head-on crashes on the rural road network. This is expected to prevent 394 fatal and serious injuries. Project Benefits Benefits include: Improve road safety for all road users. This funding is expected to support more than 950 direct and indirect jobs over the life of the projects. The Australian Government is investing $140 million in targeted road safety projects, building on NSW’s $258 million investment in its Safer Roads Program in 2020-21. Australian Government funding includes:
