Masthead is slightly covered by the main image this shows that the magazine believes it is so well known it does not always need to fully show it. The masthead is one of the main texts and is therefore written in a very large bold font, its is also in bright colours to draw readers attention to it, this means the reader will recognize the iconic logo which comes with this magazine company. The use of sans serif font shows the audience as being medium to low brow. Surprisingly the magazine lacks cover lines, however the cover lines which are there are mainly on the left, this is because it is the first thing the reader will see when the magazine is stacked on the shelf. The red background is a very bright colour and is mainly used as it would easily attract the readers attention. Also the main image is in white this stand out very well against the background.

The famous NME logo which is used again to show consistency and pride.

Again using the limited colour pallet, the traditional NME red white and black.

Having the different features labelled with page number makes it very easy for the reader to find the area they want and go straight to it.

The sans serif font shows they feel their audience are medium to low brow.

Main articles are at the side accompanied with images and page numbers, these are separate and bigger as the magazine feels that they are the main stories people have come to read.

There is a drastic colour change on the flash, it is in yellow which stands out against the rest as it is most likely an important article.

Page 3: Task 3

The editors have given an entire page to one image, this clearly shows that they thought it would intrigue readers and it is something they would like to see.Drop cap

is used to draw attention the text as it grabs the readers attention and makes them want to read the article.

A pull quote is used because it shows a quotation from the main article an image also accompanies it showing the reader who it was who said this.

There is also a single line in stand first, this is again used to draw attention to the text and make the reader want to read on.

A by-line is also included so the reader can see who the editor is.

The image used is a single striking image this is the main attraction of the

double page spread.
