What name ?

Uprising

Revolution

Rock Nation

CadenceReprise

Page 3: Task 5

Uprising I have chosen this as it is a word which describes going against the rules and

what is expected of us in society. This is what rock is seen all about so therefore it is related and effective.

Revolution The idea of this name came from the tradition of rock, it is a revolution

against what is expected to us and the music goes against the norm. Even though this is similar to the name uprising it has a different effect when you read or hear it.

Page 4: Task 5

This is a fairly common name but it instantly refers to what genre my magazine is but it shows how this genre is highly recognised on a large scale.

Rock nation

This is a musical term used to define a sequence or measure in rhythm. This would show the reader that the magazine is professional and the name also sounds abnormal which increases how eye-catching it is.

Cadence

Reprise A reprise is a repeated performance, such as an encore. This is music

related, it is unique and would be easy to remember for the audience.

Name chosen To decide on my magazine name I put forward 5 names and asked 15 people

their opinions on each one, then each individual came to a decision and voted on a single name.

Rock After looking at other magazines I have decided that the genre in which I

will bas my magazine round will be rock. There are many rock magazines out to date and it is amongst the best selling along with pop magazines. However I decided I have more knowledge of the rock genre as this would appeal to my taste of music, also I believe that the way in which the photo is taken would suit my plans.

Page 8: Task 5

Fonts Dolce Vita Bebas Neue Bombing Break it Midnight moon

The font that I chose was Break it, I believe that this looks professional but it still appeals to the unique side due to the cracks in the text. The cracks could symbolise the literal meaning of a rock which can be broken up, it is still suggesting the music genre though.

Font Colour Colours

Red

Black Blue Green Red Orange

I have chosen to use two colours for my text, these are black and red. When looking at other magazines of the same genre these colours were commonly used. They are both relevant as it shows the darkness of rock and once these colours are put together they contrast in an effective way

Q&A Q & A Kerrang example: Q:LAST TIME YOU WERE CHATTED UP?

A:"It was at Northampton. She was lovely, though,Huge breasts. Very pretty. And her technique was, 'Sign my breasts-where are you staying tonight?’" Q:LAST FAB ARTICLE OF CLOTHING YOU BOUGHT?

A:"My white, knee length, four-inch platform boots. They’re great for onstage, because they bounce without me actually having to move. They were 35 quid from Elephant & Castle market"

Q:LAST TIME YOU CRIED?A:"The truth is, I cry almost constantly. But the last time was when we were rehearsing a song called ‘Intravenous Lover’. I was having an emotional day. The song is about something really personal and I just found it really hard to sing it"

Q:LAST TIME YOU SAW AN UFO?A:"Ooh,ooh,I saw aliens! Me and my friend stayed up all night, and we saw this massive strobe-ish light behind a tree. My friend was totally terrified, convinced that there were little metal objects digging in next door’s garden. It was really scary"

Q:LAST TIME YOU PUKED YOUR GUTS UP?A:"We’d all gone to the pub at exactly half-an-hour before closing time, so we all had to buy two rounds. The table was just full of drinks. We had eight drinks each in half-an-hour. Afterwards, we were walking back to the recording studio and i just kind of sidled up to the fence and vomited over it. I was that smart about throwing up that nobody else noticed. That's talent"

Q:LAST FIGHT YOU HAD?A:"It wasn’t really a fight, but we played a gig recently where this bloke kept chucking bits of paper at our guitarist,Oli,and I was in a bad mood and it annoyed me. Then he threw his boxer shorts at me, so I threw a glass at him. He wasn’t hurt. But it was really stupid of me and did get in trouble. If you’re listening, I am very sorry, Mr Revolting Boxer Shorts BOY"

Q:LAST TIME YOU HAD AN EROTIC DREAM INVOLVING SEBASTIAN BACH?A:"Probably when i was 14!But more daydreaming fantasies while i was in class. It would get me through maths. But actual dreams...I used to dream about Richey Manic sweeping me up and carrying me away. I'm not sure where to, but I’m sure it involved sex at some point"

What format have I chosen ? After looking at many different examples I have decided that for my

magazine the main article will be laid out in a question and answer format. This is simple and it means that the answers are more to the point and relevant.
