Who should use this guide?YoushouldusethisguideifyouareaclientofTDMerchantSolutionsandperformtransactionsinvolvingUnionPaycreditordebitcardsduringthecourseofyourdailybusiness.

WhatisUnionPay?UnionPayisaninternationalpaymentbrandthatisbecomingmorecommonlyusedworldwide.Youwillseeeithersinglebrandedcards(UnionPayonly)ordualbrandedcards(UnionPayandanotherpaymentbrand).*Morebrandsmaybeaddedovertime.

How do I identify a UnionPay card?UnionPaycardsareeasytoidentifybytheirlogoshownbelow.

UnionPaycardsCurrentlytheyofferthefollowingcards:

Single branded Co-brandedCredit card UnionPay UnionPayco-brandedwithVisa,

MasterCard,AmericanExpress,JCBorDinersClub

Debit card UnionPay UnionPayco-brandedwithInteracDebitorVisaDebit*

Financial TransactionsYoucanperformanyfinancialtransactionswithaUnionPaycardthatyouwouldwithanothercard.

TransactionrequirementsUnionPaysometimesrequirescustomerstoverifytheiridentityindifferentwaysthanwhatweareusedto.Thetwomostcommoncustomerverificationmethodsare:

PIN entry

TheterminalmayrequestthecustomertoentertheirPINforanytransaction.Forcreditcards,thecustomercanbypassthisPINrequest,butiftheydoandthePINisrequestedagain,theymustentertheirPIN.DebitcardsalwaysrequireaPIN.

Customer signatureThecustomermayberequiredtosignthemerchantreceipt.Thiscanoccurforanytransaction,evenonewherethecustomerhasalreadyenteredtheirPIN.IfyouseeasignaturelineontheMerchantreceipt,thecustomermustsignthereceipt.Failuretodosomaypreventyoufrombeingpaidforthetransaction.

RestrictionsThefollowingarenot allowedforUnionPaycards:

• Accountselection(chequingorsavings) ondebitcardtransactions-adefaultsettingwillbeused

• Nosignaturerequired(NSR)transactions

• Offlineauthorizations

• Partialsaleapprovals

• Transactionsinforeigncurrencies

• Voiceauthorization/forcedposttransactions

• Cashback

Sale(creditordebitcard)1. Press /F1.

2. Enterthetotal dollar amount forthesaleandpressOK.

3. CustomerconfirmsthedollaramountandpressesYesorNo.

4. Performoneofthefollowingpaymentmethods:Contactless,Insert,or Swipe.

ContactlessThecustomertapstheircontactless-enabledcreditcardonthecontactlesscardreader.Gotostep5.

Insert carda) Thecustomerinsertstheircreditcard.

b) ThecustomerenterstheirPINandpressesOK (creditcardonly).Gotostep5.

Swipe carda) Merchantswipesthecard.

b) Thecustomerselectstheirpaymentmethod: Co-brandorUnionPay.

c) VerifythecardinfowithwhatisontheterminalscreenandpressOK.

d) Ifthetransactionisdeclined,pleaseretrybutselecttheotherbrandoptioninstepb.Forexample,ifyoupreviouslyselectedCo-brand forthedeclinedtransaction,selectUnionPaythistime.Gotostep5.

5. Thescreenshowsthatthetransactioniscompletedwithanauthorizationnumberorapprovedmessage.Ifthereceiptrequeststhecustomer’ssignature,theymustsignthereceipt.Ifyoudonotreceivetheirsignature,youmayberesponsibleforchargebacks.

6. YoucanREPRINTthereceiptorFINISHthetransaction.

The customer may be required to swipe or insert their card in some cases.

• Activateonterminal(s)-Ifyouwishtousepre-authoriizationsinyourbusiness,youmustcontactTDMerchantSolutionsHelpDesktoactivateit.

6. Iftheamountexceedstheallowablelimiteitherconfirmorcancelthetransaction:OKorCancel.IfyoupressOKyouwillbepromptedforasupervisorIDandpasswordtocontinuewiththehigheramount.Gotostep7.IfyoupressCancelprocesswillbecancelledandyouwillreturntotheIdlescreen.

7. Thescreenindicatesthatthetransactionisapprovedandthereceiptsprint.

8. Ifthereareotherpre-authorizationsopenyouwillbepromptedwiththeoptiontocloseanother:YesorNo.

ReceiptsEachtransactionhasadifferentreceiptandmostoftheinformationispurelyforrecordkeeping.Thereisimportant information that youneedtobeawareoftoensurethatyourtransactionshavecompletedcorrectly.
