Addressing Digital India Award ceremony in New Delhi today, Shri Prasad said, India missed the import of Industrial revolution, entrepreneurial revolution and technology revolution but it can't miss the ongoing digital revolution. He said, India wants to be the leader of digital revolution. He said, digital delivery is faster and digital governance is transparent. Shri Prasad said, India is sitting in the cusp of big change with the digital revolution. Shri Prasad urged the awardees to identify the success stories of digital India and share it among people. He also urged them to be active agents of change towards digital payment methods. He said, National Informatics Centre can be the torch bearer of Digital India program. The Minister announced that Digital Village programme will be launched soon to Centre transforming nation into digitally empowered society: Minister Port Blair, Dec. 19 The District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) on Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), pertains to District Industries Centre, Department of Industries, will be held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman at the Conference Hall of District Office on 20th December, 2016 at 12.30 pm. Any individual, above 18 years of age are eligible under the scheme. There will be no income ceiling for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP. For setting up of project costing above Rs.10 lakh in the manufacturing sector and above Rs.5 lakh in the business/service sector, the beneficiaries should possess at least VIII standard pass educational qualification. The financial assistance is available only for new projects under the scheme. The beneficiaries' contribution in the project cost are 10% for the general category and 5% for the special category including ST, OBC, women, ex- servicemen, physically handicapped etc. The rates of subsidy of the project cost are 15% for the general category and 25% for the special category in Urban area. Whereas, 25% for the general category and 35% for the special category in Rural area. Home Ministry has asked Chief Secretaries of all the States to take necessary action in this regard. All present in the hall are obliged to stand up to show respect to the National Anthem. It said, the entry and exit doors shall remain closed prior to the National Anthem is played or sung in the cinema hall, so that no disturbance is created. After the Anthem is played or sung, the doors can be opened. When the National Anthem shall be played in cinema halls, it shall be with the National Flag on the screen. The Govt writes to States, UTs to implement SC's order on national anthem courts had said, there shall be no commercial exploitation to give financial advantage or any kind of benefit. There shall also be no dramatization of the Anthem and it should not be included as a part of any variety show. It is estimated that 20% of children have problems with their eye sight affecting their participation and learning at school. To reduce the blindness due to refractive error, screening of school children are being carryout regularly throughout the Island by the Ophthalmic Assistants of respective area. During the FY 2016-2017, a total of 17051 (9946 in South Andaman District, 3393 in N&M Andaman District & 3712 in Nicobar District) students were screened, of which 924 refractive errors cases (730 in South Andaman District, 60 in N&M Andaman District & 134 in Nicobar District) detected and free glasses provided to 316 needy students (302 students of South Andaman District, 12 students of N&M Andaman District and 2 students of Nicobar District, a communication from the JS (NPCB)/DD (Ophth) said. 316 free glasses provided to school children under NPCB Port Blair, Dec. 19 A camp was organized by South Andaman Police at Police Station Havelock for creating awareness on cashless transaction on Dec. 14. Port Blair, Dec. 19 The general public and the Health Care Facilities (HCFs) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been informed that the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has notified the Bio-medical Wastes Management Rules, 2016, in the Gazette of India, vide G.S.R. 343(E) dated 28/03/2016, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6, 8 and 25 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), and in supersession of the Bio- Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1998. These rules shall apply to all persons who generate, collect receive, store transport, treat, dispose, or handle Bio- Medical Waste in any form including hospitals nursing homes, clinics, dispensaries, veterinary institutions, animal houses, pathological laboratories, blood banks, Ayush hospitals, Clinical Establishments, research or educational institutions, health camps, medical or surgical camps vaccination camps, blood donation camps, first aid rooms of schools, forensic laboratories and research labs.
