Welcome to your Spring/Summer Property Newsletter Team News WELCOME JULIE MORRISON Estate Manager Julie has enjoyed her first month back at Gatwick in the Real Estate team. She has worked in commercial real estate for over two decades spending much of that time at UK airports, including previous time at Gatwick. Prior to working at Gatwick she spent 5 years working for the Department for Transport on HS2, the high speed rail link between London and Birmingham, learning lots about this rail infrastructure project and the governance and controls needed to acquire land and property for the largest project this country has seen since World War 2. In her spare time, Julie is an avid runner who completed 4 half marathons in 4 weeks in September 2016 and also leads a local running group in East Grinstead. GOOD LUCK Kathryn Williams & Colin Galletly Kathryn and Colin are now part of the Commercial Change Team. This is a new team within Gatwick which looks at any change within the Commercial department be that Process, Technology, Infrastructure or People. Once a department identifies a problem or an area that we can improve, the Change Managers will look into the issue and determine the problem and solution. They then ensure that it is implemented and it becomes business as usual. GOOD BYE Tania Tupper Tania Tupper has decided to leave Gatwick to continue her career in surveying elsewhere following the birth of her baby boy. Good luck! WELCOME BACK Jamie Duncan Due to return back to Gatwick in July to take up Colin’s role as Property Asset Manager, after being away in Spain and South America for almost 3 years. Welcome to your Spring/Summer Property Newsletter. We have had a very busy year so far, delivering a number of significant projects including the Airline Moves Project which was the most complex operation that the Property Team have ever undertaken. The project which took 2 years to plan was a huge success. With involvement from design to completion we changed and refurbished 210,000 sq. ft. of tenanted space across the campus with 84 construction activities carried out. British Airways and easyJet are now happily settled into their new homes and Virgin are looking forward to moving into their crew report this summer. Earlier this year we have also acquired First Point, a new office block on the main access road to the South Terminal. We look forward to a busy summer ahead of us, but for now I think we have had enough of the stormy weather and are looking forward to some sunshine! Julie has enjoyed her first month back at Gatwick in the Real Estate team.

GOOD BYETania TupperTania Tupper has decided to leave Gatwick to continue her career in surveying elsewhere following the birth of her baby boy. Good luck!

WELL DONE TO Francesca KoshFrancesca has been made a permanent member of our team.

Property is not merely bricks and mortar, its main purpose is to allow people to carry out a particular operation and without it we would not be able to carry out the work we do.

I have met clients and colleagues from various disciplines within the aviation business and have gained a huge appreciation for their work, it gives me great satisfaction to know that I have made a contribution by accommodating the businesses that provide a continual operation at the airport.

MY TYPICAL DAY INVOLVES... Lots of viewings and site visits around the estate which keeps me very active. I even enjoy walking the Piers in the rain!

THE BEST PART OF MY WORK IS... Laughing with my colleagues, the Property team have a great sense of humour and we all have a laugh in between working very hard of course.

MY MOST SATISFYING EXPERIENCE SINCE I JOINED THE COMPANY IS… Being welcomed so

Let’s Meet…Francesca Kosh

quickly into the Commercial team. Everyone has taken me under their wing and I feel very lucky to work with such a genuine group of people - I’m certainly learning from the best.

MY ROLE MODELS ARE… My parents, who have completely

different gifts and qualities, have shown

me unconditional love and support. I admire their strength, commitment and passion in all their endeavours and

feel blessed to be on the receiving end

of their generosity and kindness.

I LIKE TO RELAX BY… Talking and laughing with my housemates. They have been my best friends since primary school and we certainly know how to relax after a long day at work.

MY HOBBIES ARE… Spending quality time with family and socialising with friends as much as possible. I love travelling and sightseeing and would most definitely be found wandering around city streets or country lanes, trying out a new restaurant or working out at the gym burning off the calories from the cakes. I’ve eaten in the staff kitchen.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY? I would love to be able to speak every language so that I could communicate with people anywhere in the world. I have always been in awe of multilingualism and would love to have that same gift. Which reminds me, I need to brush up on my Français.

WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH? Anything! I will also happily laugh at myself when I’ve experienced what I call a ‘Miranda moment’.

IF YOU WERE ALONE IN A DESERT WHAT WOULD YOUR THOUGHTS BE? “Where’s the tanning oil?”

Airline Moves ProjectThe Airline Moves Project successfully concluded at the end of the January.

The transition was seamless, following two years of planning and a series of 37 trials to test that every element of the airlines new homes was ready. Staggering the moves over 72 hours, with all three airlines operating a reduced flying programme over the three days also helped to simplify the process.

Health & Safety CornerHuman behaviour is the cause of 85% of all activations across the airport.

Every year false fire alarm activations and evacuations cost the Gatwick Airport Community a significant amount of time and money and impact negatively on the operational performance and reputation of the business.

In the lead up to what is again predicted to be Gatwick’s busiest summer on record, we as a Gatwick Family, have a crucial role to play in supporting our fellow colleagues, minimising the potential for disruption and delivering a positive experience for passengers. Reducing the number of false fire alarm activations and

Some of the most common and easily prevented causes of activations are as follows:

Vaping/e-cigarettes being used indoors.

Working without isolating a fire detection device or isolating the wrong device.

Excess steam from cleaning hot surfaces or leaving hot taps running.

Staff and passengers mistaking a fire alarm for a door release button.

Fumes from idling vehicles parked near entry/exit doors.

Air fresheners, deodorants and fly sprays being used in close proximity to fire detection devices.

Kitchen appliances being used in unapproved areas.

Kitchen appliances being switched on and left unattended.

If you have any questions please get in touch with the Property EHS Coordinators.

evacuations is an important element in helping to achieve this goal. Human behaviour is the cause of 85% of all activations across the airport. On over 150 occasions last year a fire alarm was falsely triggered which either caused or could have caused a full staff or passenger evacuation.
