WHAT IS POWER CONVERSION?

> Mains

> Solar panels

> Batteries

> Unstable DC

sources…

> Critical electronic

equipment

> Batteries

> Mains

> AC DC (rectifiers)

> DC AC (inverters)

> DC DC (converters)

WHY ENERGY EFFICIENCY IS SO IMPORTANT..

8% energy loss

(= heat)

> Costs money

> Affects the environment

> Requires cooling → more energy

and cost

100 % input 92 % output

3.5% energy loss

100 % input 96.5 % output

> Saves money

> Reduces environmental impact

> Requires less cooling

Page 5: Telecom Presentation

Slide 5

24.04.2014

Module density is also important

> Growing need for

replacement of old, large, and

low efficiency equipment

> Added value for customers

• Saved space

• Saved energy costs and emissions

• Fast return on investment

> Applies for all applications

from cellular to large central

office plants

Alternative Energy – SOLAR CHARGER

Output power: 1500 W

Input voltage: 150 – 265 Vdc

Operating range: 85 – 265 Vdc

Output voltage: 48 – 58 Vdc

> Flatpack 2 HE Solar

• High efficient DC/DC converter, 96%

• Regulated output voltage

• Galvanic isolation - improves immunity to lightning transients and faulty conditions

• Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)

• One PV string per charger

• Reduced cable cross-section

• No junction-box needed

• Fully industrialized production line

• Modular design, flexible and upgradable

• Above 300Vdc – more expensive components

• More power – strings in parallel, less efficient

Main reason for input voltage and power output range

Open Frame Cabinet – Design for Logistic

> Sheet metal manufacturer produces the OFC part, assemble it, pack it, fix 9 pcs on a pallet and ship it to Eltek

> Eltek manufacturing HUB opens the top part of the individual packing dropping in the power core, rectifiers, battery cables, close the packing and ship it to customer HUB

> At customer HUB or local Eltek stock, the individual pack is split form the pallet and shipped separately to individual site or brought to the site by installing company

> At customer site the system is unpacked, assembled and commissioned

Culturally sensitive

> Standardized solutions are normally the most cost effective

solutions.

• local adaptions are done to fulfill the customer specification

> We aim for a dialogue with the customers:

• What is specified

• What is the need

• What is the optimum solution, regarding CAPEX and TCO.
