NEWSLETTER Term 1 Week 8 1 Crown Street, CROOKWELL 2583 T: (02) 4832 1421 F: (02) 4832 1966 E: [email protected] W: www.crookwell-h.schools.nsw.edu.au Open Night 2018 Open Night last Thursday was a huge success. There was a real buzz in the school with parents and children visiting classroom displays and watching Music and Drama performances. Thank you for supporting your community high school. If you have a child in Year 5 or Year 6 and were not able to attend the evening and would like a tour of the school, pleae contact the school on 4832 1421 to organise. School Attendance Recently I wrote about school attendance in the newsletter and would like to clarify some key points. It is essential that parents provide an explanation of absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. This also includes an explanation for late arrivals and early leavers. An explanation must be provided as we have to enter codes for the absence into the attendance register. If it relates to a medical issue, an S is entered into the attendance register. If there is a justified reason for leave, for example attending a funeral or family commitment, an L is recorded. If a note is received and no explanation is given the absence is recorded as unjustified. School Uniform As the weather starts to get colder students need to be prepared with the correct school uniform. The uniform shop is in the canteen. If you need any items of clothing an order form can be downloaded from the school website:- http://www.crookwell-h.schools.nsw.edu.au/our-school/ school-uniform1 or collected from the front office. Orders can be given to the canteen staff every day except Thursdays. Stay warm and continue to wear the school uniform with pride. Year 10 PASS CampThe Year 10 PASS class recently spent two days paddling canoes in Kangaroo Valley. The scenery was picturesque and the weather was perfect. The students did a 3-hour paddle each day and camped out in the bush overnight. They had to plan for meals, including water requirements, pitch their own tent and rough it with no amenities or electricity. Students were also given the opportunity to go fishing and swimming on the excursion. Whilst the paddle was physically and psychologically challenging, all students came away from the excursion with personal growth. Michael DarkPASS Teacher
