During Week 8 students of Lake Illawarra South
Public School partook in fruit or veg dress up day. We
thank those who participated on the day. We also
appreciate the families that came and enjoyed a
waste free lunch. All of your donations are greatly
appreciated. In total we raised $161.15. These
donations will go towards the school garden which is
in need of some new tools and equipment.
We would also like to thank the students that attend
the garden club as they are always helping to make
our garden thrive. The SRC would also like to thank
Mrs Coy for her time and commitment while running
the garden club. The school is very grateful for the
help Bunnings has provided during Fruit and Veg
month initiatives as they have donated many useful
tools as needed. They also donated plants and trees
to grow during this week.

Fruit & Veg Month 2017 – Get Loud for Fruit and Veg!!
Thank you to all students and families who got involved in our Fruit & Vegetable month initiatives in Term 3. Out fruit and vegie dress up day raised much-needed funds for our school gardening program. It was exceptionally pleasing to see so many of our families partake in our first ‘nude food’ day. Thank you to all teachers and students who kept tallies of their crunch and sip and to the Fruit & Veg SRC committee who collected and prepared platters for the winning class. Thanks once again to ‘Mitchell’s Fruit’ at Warilla Grove that kindly donated the freshest selection of produce for our weekly winning crunch and sip class. Make sure you get down there today to but some quality goods.
Thanks Mrs Trotter
SPORT NEWS
REGIONAL ATHLETICS
Friday Week 7 saw six of our students (Matilda Best, Lily Carberry, Noah Carberry, Sunni Lord-Drougas, Teliah McElhone and Malokai Tomo) compete in the Regional Athletics Carnival in
Canberra. Although the morning started a little chilly the day proved an absolute ripper and our students did a phenomenal job giving their best.
Congratulations to Malokai Tomo who was successful in gaining selection to the State
Carnival, to be held later this term, in the 11yr 100m sprint.
Well done to all students who will represent our school at the regional carnival and best of luck to
Malokai.
TERM 4 INTEREST SPORT
Students in Year 3-6 received a purple note in Week 7. Students in consultation with their
parents, are asked to nominate their preferences in order from 1-6. In Week 1 of Term 4, students
will be told their selected sport for the 5 week rotation (Wks 3-7). Please ensure that if you
receive a note that requires payment, you are prompt. Positions will be offered to other
students if money is not back by the due date.
Keep fit, stay active!!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Another term has sped by here at Lake. The last day
for the school term is this Friday 22nd September. All
students will return to school on Monday 9th October.
Have a wonderful and restful break!!
New Drop Off Zone
The council has changed the car drop off zone
outside the school main entrance on Reddall Parade.
This zone used to be a drop off zone in the morning
only which meant parents could park there of an
afternoon. The council has now changed this and
parents cannot park there of an afternoon either.
Please be mindful of this change and read all the road
signs. If you park and leave your car there in the
afternoon, the rangers who regularly patrol the area
may book you.
Kindergarten Enrolments – 2018
If your child is starting school next year, please come
to the office for an enrolment form if they are in
area. If you wish to apply as an out of area
application, they need to be returned to the school
by week one next term.
The out of area panel will be convening on Thursday
12th October to consider applications. Any out of area
applications made after this date may not be
considered for enrolment in 2018.
Have a wonderful week and a glorious holiday!!
