Dear Parents,

October – month of the Rosary

Yesterday, we celebrated an important day in the life of the Catholic Church - the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The feast day takes place in honour of a 16th century naval victory which secured Europe against Turkish invasion. Pope St. Pius V attributed the victory to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was invoked on the day of the battle through a campaign to pray the Rosary throughout Europe. Mary the mother of Jesus, has many titles and Our Lady of the Rosary is just one of them. The Rosary, for many Catholics, is a prayer tradition dear to their hearts with great devotion to Mary our Mother. As Catholics, we ask Mary to intercede for us when we are struggling or in need.

The month of October is dedicated to the Rosary and because this is so, each of our classes, throughout this month, will choose a special intention they would like the school to pray for. This will take the place of the current prayer – ‘the Angelus’.

Welcome back to the last term of 2021! A frightening thought as there is so much to do in so short a time. I hope everyone was able to take some time to rest and rejuvenate and spend time together as a family.

Term 4 is always a short term, jamb-packed with a plethora of activities and events. Therefore, for the teachers and children, it is literally ‘hit the floor running’ so that all can be achieved in this short period of time.

At present the children are busily practising for their performance at the eisteddfod next week – you will have received information with details of dates, times and dress requirements from your child’s teacher. We hope that some of you may be able to attend the performances at the MECC next week.

Our first P & F meeting for the term is on Monday, 11 October at 6:00pm in the staff room. Come along if you are able and bring a friend if you can! Hope to see you there.

Have a wonderful weekend.

God Bless,

Olivia

PILATES Commencing Week 3

Dear Parents, This term, we will continue with Pilates for all classes. Students will need to bring the following on their Pilates day –

• A towel to place on the mat

• Top must be the school sports shirt

• Bottoms can be leggings, skins under shorts, firmer fitting shorts

No short bike pants/bummers

Pilates is a safe way of learning and developing group dynamics and social skills, as well as initiating a relaxation response by means of concentrated and focussed breathing, the students will be working on meditation skills. There are so many benefits of Pilates and we encourage you to do your own personal research , if you wish to know more. We are most fortunate to, once again, have Mrs Carmen Diaz, a very experienced and well qualified instructor to lead these classes. Mrs Carmen Diaz holds a Diploma in Pilates and Movement Therapy is a fully accredited member of the Pilates Australian Alliance, has a Diploma of Contemporary Pilates and teaching Methodology (5262SWA), Certificate III in fitness as well as a current CPR and First Aid Certificate. Carmen has a great rapport with the students and challenges them to do their very best. Encouraging our students to look for ways to include physical exercise, flexibility, relaxation, meditation and stress relief, in their daily lives is building well rounded people, who are able to show resilience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We are excited to offer this opportunity to our students and look forward to the benefits we believe will follow.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR 2022?

At this time of the year, plans are being made for 2022 and the key factor upon which

planning is based is enrolment facts and figures. Whether it’s class composition, number of

classes, number of staff members or budget planning, it is essential to be as accurate as

possible in predicting the number of students at St Francis Xavier come January next year.

Can I ask then, that you keep us informed about potential moves between now and the

beginning of the year?

Thank you for helping us to be well-prepared for the year ahead.
