■ The Performance Planning and Evaluation Program is a process by which supervisors and employees can come together to discuss goals, objectives, and expected performance throughout the year.

■ As a Team Leader you will be required to ensure that Performance Plans are created for your team and its members.

■ Performance planning is critical to implementing a performance management system. Every supervisor should conduct a performance planning session with each eligible staff member. During this meeting, the supervisor should describe what the direct report is to achieve during the next performance cycle

PERFORMANCE PLAN OBJECTIVE

To help the management in exercising organizational control. Helps to strengthen the relationship and communication between superior – subordinates and management – employees. To provide feedback to the employees regarding their past performance. Provide information to assist in the other personal decisions in the organization. Provide clarity of the expectations and responsibilities of the functions to be performed by the employees. To reduce the grievances of the employees. To judge the gap between the actual and the desired performance.

Essay Appraisal:- A Performance Appraisal method whereby an appraiser writes a narrative about the employee

Critical Incident Appraisal:- A Performance Appraisal method that focuses on the key behaviors that’s make the difference between doing a job effectively or ineffectively.

Check List Appraisal:-A Performance Appraisal type in which a rater checks off those attributes of an employee that apply.

Adjective Rating Scale Appraisal:- A Performance Appraisal method that lists a number of traits and range of performance for each.

Forced-Choice Appraisal:- A type of Performance Appraisal method in which the rater must choose between two specific statements about an employee’s work behavior

Motivation & Satisfaction:- Performance appraisal provides employees with recognition for their work efforts. The power of social recognition as an incentive has been long noted

Training & Development:- Performance appraisal offers an excellent opportunity - perhaps the best that will ever occur - for a supervisor and subordinate to recognize and agree upon individual training and development needs.

Recruitment & Industion:-Appraisal data can be used to monitor the success of the organization's recruitment and induction practices.

Employee Evaluation:- performance appraisal is the process of examining and evaluating the performance of an individual.

No Advancement/ Modernization in Performance Appraisal

System. Training & Development are not equally Competent. All Appraisers are not equally competent Merit is not taken in to consideration largely. Not linked with business Goal / Achievement Biasness scope is very high Good Performers are frustrated.

As we found that in every method there is some error. No one approach is always best :each has its strength and weakness. So individually no method is so strong to apply. Our suggestion is that try to be honest from your mind and apply it in your work.

No matter what method you are applying. Mind it do no do ant injustice to any body, because some where, some how you will get its return. One increment or promotion can change some bodies life. So be clear to your mind when you are in that position;

Its better for the organization to mixed some method which is appropriate for their own and apply in the partial field. Collect some good side from some method and prepare a appraisal policy
