Accounts to be passed for payment, Stationery & postage $218.96, meeting costs $31.50, Insurance $866.80, CMC subs $75. Moved: Barry Bristow-Stagg.. Secnd: Jenny Sumpton.. that the Treasurer’s report as given be accepted and accounts passed for payment. Carried Reports: Shed Report

• AJ from Hosts Autos attended & inspected the Sprite & Morris Oxford 2 weeks ago, reporting nothing major. AJ took notes, we are still waiting for a ‘ball park’ report on both cars. At the time the Sprite Master Cylinder was found to have a minor leak & the exhaust was re-clamped away from the Shockies, & the Oxford brakes need attention. Once we have the report, we need to decide how the work is to be achieved, by Club Members or by AJ. Some of the work has to be done by others, eg the Oxford brakes. If we take on the work, when the Oxford brakes are taken off AJ has offered to send them to the right place for fixing.

• Re stumping of the building, although not about the shed, it can be reported here that this is in

progress. A start has been made in the old Library room, with patching done, attention to the ceiling & end wall leading to the toilet area. Ongoing consultations with Nathan at the Shire, regarding the present work, more ongoing work and extra recommendations for the future. It has been advised, for obvious reasons, that we should move the wood pile away from the building.

Events:

• Veteran Car Club Autojumble: 17 July, 6.30am on. Carine Assoc., Cnr Ranford/Warton rd Sthrn River.

• Beverley Agricultural Show; 20 Aug, 9a-4p, Beverley Showgrounds. Most enjoyable show & outing.

• AVVVA General Meeting – August: Moved to General Business.

• Constitution- This needs updating. By the Committee first then reviewed at a meeting. The Government have made changes re Associations which have to be included. These changes will be imposed regardless, we have up to 3yrs to update. No major internal changes are foreseen.

• August General Meeting- Due on the 20th Aug, same day as Beverley Show. As discussed previously the meeting can be shifted before or after the due date so as to leave the event free of other complications. Moved: Fred Singleton… Seconded: Chris Alabach… That the August General Meeting be shifted to a week later, on the 27th, so as it is seen in the Newsletter and all Members so advised. Carried

Many thanks go to our Shire for this assistance. My thanks for the position this year, it has been good, with no outside issues. We are moving forward Club and Premises wise. We need to keep up our liaison with the Shire and so keep moving forward successfully. PRESIDENTS REPORT Firstly, I would like to thank those who have given me their support for yet another year. To our committee, thank you for your support and the effort you all give this club, ensuring it provides our members with the best information and amenity we can provide. I will, as in the previous years, do my best to promote the club and where possible represent the AVVVA at as many events as I can. We have achieved quite a lot this past year, the continued growth of the swap meet, too our many new members, welcome. We have also made improvements to the club house, with the support of the shire, these improvements are continuing. Finally, I would ask our members too think of some ideas or events which could improve our club. Regards Murray Sumpton 0407299705 A little poem, so true it hurts ! Another year has passed and we’re all a little older

The summer felt hotter, and winter seems much colder.

There was a time not long ago when life was quite a blast Now I fully understand about ‘Living in the Past’.

We used to go to weddings, football games and lunches.. Now we go to funeral homes and after-funeral brunches.

We used to have hangovers, from parties that were gay. Now we suffer body aches and whine the night away.

We used to go out dining, and couldn’t get our fill, Now we ask for doggie bags, come home and take a pill.

We used to often travel to places near and far. Now we get sore rears from riding in the car.

We used to go to nightclubs and drink a little booze Now we stay home at night and watch the evening news.

That, my friend is how life is, and now my tale is told. So, enjoy each day and live it up…before you’re too darned old!

After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said: “Fifty years ago we had a cheap house a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 23 year old girl. Now we have an $800,000 home, a $65,000 car, a nice big bed and a large-screen TV, but I’m sleeping with a 73 year old woman. It seems to me that you’re not holding up your side of the bargain.” My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23 year old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10 inch black and white TV.
