Holy Cross Catholic Church

Father Joy Joseph and the Holy Cross staff wish each and every member of our parish family a Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year. May the newborn Babe of Bethlehem bless each one of us, our families and our loved ones with His gift of peace, joy, love and blessings. Pray that our New Year may be one that brings us closer to God and our parish family—a parish that praises God for His love and mercy; and that enables us to reach out to one another in love and charity. Perhaps it is most appropriate to recognize the contributions of those who make our parish family a unique one and our celebration of the Eucharist a profound blessing for those who gather to worship and praise God. Special thanks to all who devote so much of their time, energy and life for Holy Cross day and after day, bringing immeasurable blessings to the parish. Thanks to the Holy Cross Pastoral Team Rev. HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH DECEMBER 15, 2019 THIRDSUNDAY OF ADVENT 15DE DICIEMBRE, 2019 TERCER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO

HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH DECEMBER 15, 2019 THIRDSUNDAY OF ADVENT 15DE DICIEMBRE, 2019 TERCER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO

The Meaning of Advent Candles As a Christian tradition, the wreath holds 4 Advent candles. The candles represent Jesus coming as the light in the darkness. One candle is lit each Sunday until all 4 candles are lit, and sometimes a 5th candle is white in color. As Christmas draws nearer, each candle bring a little more light into the darkness. Each of the candles represent an aspect of preparation during the season of Advent. 1.– The Candle of Hope is Purple. Within the Catholic Church it symbolizes penance, preparation and sacrifice. During the first week of Advent we look forward to Jesus’ coming with hope. 2.– The Candle of Peace is Purple. During this second week of Advent, we reflect on our lives and work on be-coming better-versions-of-ourselves in preparation for Jesus coming. 3.– The Candle of Joy is Pink. This symbolizes anticipation and rejoicing. During the third week of Advent, we are filled with joy for near arrival of Jesus on Christmas day. 4.– The Candle of Love is Purple. During this final week of Advent we rejoice in the endless love that God has for us, which is made apparent in the birth of his Son.

HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH GIFT 2 RENEW CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. (Proverbs 3, 9-10) We are a parish family and together we thank God for all the support He has given us. Our first fruits have produced an amazing facility in which we can spread God’s word and evangelize through our ministries. God has been good to use. We are now entering our GIFT 2 RENEW phase of our capital campaign. Now is the time to consider renewing our commitment and making a pledge for 3 more years. If you have not made a pledge, please do so. Your gift will begin immediately, or it will renew and add to your unfinished commitment and begin once the initial pledge is fulfilled. We completed the building project with your spiritual strength and financial support. You created, endured and began payments for the magnificent chang-es to our parish campus. All our ministries should keep these facilities full and busy, to keep our parish mission effective! We raised approximately $3.3 million of the $6.1 million total cost of the project. Now we all need to recommit our prayer spirit and financial resources to raise the other $2,546,526. Please use our website and pledge to give through your bank account, credit card or check. If you wish to make a pledge on paper, we will also welcome them in the offertory basket or in the office. In our first week since Father Joseph’s request, we had 98 families pledge, saying “Here is our next three-year pledge from our family.” These additional pledges totaled $253,474. May God continue to bless your heart and your family.
