SCHEDULE

HOW TO REGISTER

• To arrive at an evidence-based recommendation for timing of umbilical cord clamping.

• Toreviewthecauses,presentations,differentialdiagnosis and initial management of shock in the newborn.

• To develop a systematic approach to the initial care of a baby with a suspected bowel obstruction.

• To consider indications for therapeutic cooling beyond the currently published guidelines.

• To consider the differential diagnosis of “fetaldistress”.

• To review the differential diagnosis and initialcare of newborn eye infections.

Most presentations will be in the form of cases derived from infants referred to the NICU at McMaster Children’s Hospital over the last 12 months.

They will be presented in a step-by-step fashion with audience participation. Each will be followed with a brief “take home message”. The formatis informal and meant to draw on the collective expertise of the participants.
