HISTORY Previously known as the Fawc Warder Award for Club Service, this award was re-designated in 1976 as the Amy Buckley (Sr.) Award for Club Service – a fitting tribute to a lady who served the club in so many capacities in its early years. She also encouraged young players, including her children Sally and Gary, who excelled in tennis. Her daughter-in-law, Wendy Buckley, and Wendy’s children have also been very active in the club for several decades. MERIT • To salute the vital fuel of volunteer service to the STC’s success since its founding in 1956 • To annually recognize and celebrate individuals or a group of volunteers who have made an

extraordinary/exemplary and positive contribution to the STC through their volunteer service • To inspire all STC members to start/continue/increase volunteer service to the STC CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY A junior and/or adult volunteer(s) who: • Are a seasonal member • Are active beyond simple membership • Are not paid for their volunteer service • Did not perform the services as part of their regular STC role or duties • Did not win the award within the past 5 years • Demonstrated the awardable service since the last Cups Day presentation *Nominees cannot be self-nominated or nominated by a family member. NOMINATIONS Nominator: An STC member who is 19 years of age or older Deadline: Two weeks before Cups Day Submission: In writing to the Board Chair (info@southamptontennisclub.ca) Content:

• Nominee’s name • Nominator’s name • Description of Service

• Time, dedication, effort or personal trait brought to their volunteering, and • How the STC benefited from their service • Any further information the Nominator would like to add in support of the nomination

SELECTION Deadline: One week before Cups Day A Selection Committee (consisting of the Board Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer):

• Reviews and evaluates nominations based on the eligibility criteria and merit • Recommends to the Board no more than three candidates from the final list of nominees • Asks all Board members to each submit their rankings of those candidates in writing to the

Board Chair Recusals: • If a member of the Selection Committee is nominated, then they will step down and an alternate

will be selected by the remaining committee members • If a Board member is recommended as a candidate or is a family member of a candidate, then that

Board member will not be asked to participate in the ranking of candidates Preclusions: • An unsuccessful nomination does not preclude the nominee’s potential eligibility another year PRESENTATION Winner(s) are announced at the Cups Day presentation.
