Deacon Larry Hiner
Bishop Vasquez has appointed Deacon Larry Hiner to serve the
parish of Santa Cruz. We welcome Deacon Larry and his wife,
Chérie, to our parish. Dcn. Larry will be present at all the English
Masses this weekend. Please welcome him when you see him.
El obispo Vásquez ha designado al diácono Larry Hiner para
servir en la parroquia de Santa Cruz. Damos la bienvenida al
diácono Larry y su esposa Chérie a nuestra parroquia. Dcn. Lar-
ry estará presente en todas las misas en inglés este fin de
semana. Por favor, déle la bienvenida cuando lo vea.
Letter from Deacon Larry:
Peace be with you! I am delighted to be assigned by Bishop Joe
Vasquez to the Santa Cruz Parish, and I am grateful to Fr. Jesse
for accepting me here. My wife, Chérie and I moved to Kyle on
1 Jan 2020 (yes, from California). We studied in the Deacon For-
mation program in Sacramento Diocese for 5 years, leading to
my ordination by Bishop Jaime Soto in June 2014. We were
assigned to St. Joseph Parish in Elk Grove, where we had been
participating since 1990. St. Jos is similar in size and diversity
to the Santa Cruz Parish, save that our shared parochial school
was on a nearby parish campus; I am joyfully anticipating inter-
acting with the teachers, parents, and students here! Chérie
and I enjoy serving in most of our ministries together, from Bap-
tism to Funerals, Marriage Preparation and weddings, Adult
Faith Enrichment, and more. I also hold a doctorate in Psychol-
ogy, and I’ve previously offered short-term Pastoral Counseling
to individuals and couples….I look forward to offering that ser-
vice here as well.
We raised four sons, who are now all married and blessing us
with grandchildren (8) and multiple joys with their families. Our
second son, Christian, lives with his family in Luling. We are
presently renting a house in Cool Springs, Kyle, and we are in
the process of building what will (God willing) be our “forever
home” in the Crosswinds development in northernmost Kyle.
Both now – and especially as vaccines are available and we
gather in-person once more – we look forward to meeting and
serving all of you.

Christmas/New Years Office Hours

Emergency Anointing of the Sick
When the office is closed and during the holiday
season, the anointing of the sick is available for
those in danger of death. Please contact clergy
when death seems imminent. Remember that it is better to call as soon as possible in order to
give the clergy time to arrive. Please utilize this

Sacramento del Matrimonio
El ministerio de matrimonios Ágape presenta
clases preparatorias dos veces al año para reci-
bir el Sacramento del Matrimonio. La primera
sesión se impartirá el domingo 31 de enero a
las 2:30 p.m. Estas clases son un requisito para
casarse por la iglesia. Las clases son para pare-
jas comprometidas, así como para parejas que
están viviendo en unión libre, o casados por el
civil y que desean casarse por la iglesia.
