2 The Arcadia Villager May 2018
From the Office Season is almost over. Hope everyone has a safe trip home and a good summer. Make sure all guest passes are turned back into the office.
Spare Keys Arcadia Village staff living onsite will no longer have ac-cess to spare house keys after business hours (whether left at office for sales, or for any other specific reason). If you are locked out of your home after normal busi-ness hours, you will need to call a locksmith. Please do not knock on Arcadia Village staff homes after hours requesting access to your home. We highly recommend (as an option to a costly lock-smith call) that all residents find a trustworthy (year-round) neighbor and leave a key with them for these specific instances, or simply hide a key somewhere safe on their home with key-hiding accessories available lo-cally at most hardware stores.
Referral Program Reminder:
Any potential sales referrals MUST be registered with the Arcadia Village office PRIOR to sales staff showing any homes to prospective buyers. Referrals will no longer be accepted after initial showings. If you refer a QUALIFIED, APPROVED buyer that subse-quently purchases a re-sale home listed with Arcadia Village, you will receive one (1) month rent credit to-ward your lot. If the referred buyer(s) purchase a NEW inventory model or orders a NEW custom home, the referral is increased to four (4) months rent credit to-ward your lot. Any rent credits from referrals are applied on the 1st of the month immediately following the completed clos-ing. Referrals are limited to one (1) per closing only. If you have questions, please call the office.
Heading Home Reminder
Have a friend or neighbor periodically check your home
while you’re gone to make sure doors and windows are locked, A/C or humidistat is operating correctly, and there is no water leaking anywhere. Better yet, think about shutting off the water to your home entirely. Then you have less to worry about while you’re gone. Call the office for assistance if you need it.
Replace the light bulb in your planter light prior to leav-ing. This way it should last through the summer. A non-functional planter light lets people know you’re not home. Make sure you have returned all guest pool passes to the office. The ropes across your driveway says “We’re not home”. A neighbor occasionally using your driveway is actually a good thing in that it signals someone may be home. Make sure anything you’re leaving in the RV storage area is clearly marked with the proper parking permit so we can contact you if necessary. Please update Kay in the office PRIOR to leaving for home. Also, make sure someone keeps the weeds down while you are gone. Please have someone trim around your home once or twice a month when gone – anywhere the mowers can-not access. This keeps the park looking nice for those staying through the summer – and then we don’t have to bug you while you’re home enjoying your summer. It also gives the impression that the home is not vacant for the summer. Stay safe and healthy – we’ll see you when you return. Arcadia Village Staff ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

HOA NOTES Something to think about!
First and foremost, the HOA Board of Directors want to thank you all for the amazing support given us this year. Your presence at the meetings and continued encouragement are greatly appreciated. Now is your chance to become even more involved! Every De-cember, terms expire for three HOA board members, and we welcome new faces and new ideas. Take some time, think about joining the HOA Board. Members in good standing interested in being a can-didate for a position on the board, please contact one of the current board members. Our numbers are listed in the front of the Village Directory. We will be happy to answer your questions and place your name on the ballot for December’s General Meeting and Election. Applications are due by November 12, 2018. As always, we look forward to working with you. Re-member, everyone can make a positive difference in
Arcadia Village!

All are invited and welcome.
Your concerns should be brought in writing to be
presented at the homeowners comment section.
Thank You To The Freeman’s A special thanks to the Freeman family for a donation to a charity that Sandie would like. I thought she would like to give the donation to Vicky and the can-cer society that helps local people with cancer. Thank you, Charlie Wikstrom, 541 Barcelona, 863-494-1419
Thank You From Charlie Wilkstrom
To start, I want to thank all the people that sent me cards. They are beautiful and I did not know how many people Sandie touched here in the park. I also want to thank all the people that took the time to stop while taking their walk, driving their carts, and generally any-where in the park and shake my hand or gave me a BIG HUG. It showed me how much Sandie was loved here. I want to thank Wendy Carter and all the ladies that prepared the food for Sandie’s me-morial service. You ladies do such a great job. Thank you Bob Harrington for doing the service for me and most of all for Sandie. Thank you one and all for attending the memorial. It shows the love that we have for one another. This is a great place to live. May God bless you all. Charlie Wilkstrom, 541 Barcelona, 863-494-1419

Newsletter Distribution My first experience after volunteering to distribute the newsletters was hectic. I was in a panic when Ellen had her accident and I didn't know how I'd get all those newsletters delivered, but you folks stepped up and came to my rescue! A great big "Thank You" to: Sharon S, Sandy & Bob S, Jennie & Frank B, Patti H, and Deb A. And to the others who also made offers to help in the future. Not to men-tion the regular distributors. Thanks! Sincerely, Ken Yount, 708 El Presidente, 863-444-3350
Do You Like To Party?
As you may or may not know, Charlene Way has lead
the way in putting together the New Year’s Eve bash
and the Valentine’s Day Dinner the last couple of
years and did a tremendous job. Unfortunately, she
has decided to move out of the village and can no
longer organize these functions. Are you the one to
step up and take over these functions?

Arcadia Cruisers
Treat Yourself to the Gift of Travel As the season ends many are sadly heading North. Plans are underway for next year. Thinking about the Park Cruise? Consider signing up now. Teri at Casta-way Criuses has all the latest prices and offers. Our 9 night Southern Caribbean has a very inter-esting itinerary. St. Kitts & Nevis This twin island nation is busting at the seams with charm. St. Kitts, the larger of the two, is best first explored on a open air train along the south coast. Grenada Grenada is short on bad views. No matter where you stand on the island, it is invariably green, moody and pulsing with plant life. A multitude of spices are grown and harvested here and are sold in colorful markets and directly from small farms along country roads. Barbados Barbados has something for everyone; Pink sand beaches, exotic wildlife: monkeys, sea turtles and eight species of bats, and sunset just begging to be enjoyed with a fresh cocktail.
Antigua With a much touted 365 beaches to choose from, this former British colony still treats cricket near reli-giously, and is known as one of the Caribbean's premier sailing spots. For more information call:
Jimmie Poe, at 863-993-0368, or

Lauderdale sailing up the Mississippi River arriving New Orleans March 3, at 6:30 P.M. departing 5 March at 10:00 P.M. Next stops include Grand Cay-man and Cozumel before returning to Ft. Lauderdale. Please Continue Collecting These Items!
Thank you all! If you have any questions on any of this, please call or see me. Please use
the basket for box tops located by my back door. 1. Box tops: You find these on all kinds of
cereal boxes, cake boxes and many other items. I know
here in the park that there are people that
already save these for people, which is fine, however, if
you have not been donating them, please
consider donating to me. 2. Clean plastic grocery bags: These I take to
the "Center for the Needy,” so I need a lot of them.
I really appreciate all of the bags that you drop off. I ask that you do not tie the bags to my door or rail.
Please make sure to secure the bags by tying up the bag
so nothing blows out and stack them back between my
utility room and the corn stalk plant. Ellen Davis, 111 Siesta, 863-494-0273
