Melanie’s Thoughts Thank you I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts this term. The number of activities and the learning that has taken place, is amazing! Our students are very lucky to have the opportunities that they do. So thank you to all of our staff who work so hard to create such wonderful opportunities for our students. To our parents for supporting our school and initiatives and most importantly our students to help them along their learning journey. The influence of the parent is one of the biggest contributers to student success. And lastly I would like to thank our students for enthusiastically taking every opportunity that is offered to them. It is rare in our school to see students not participate in activities and this is what makes our school such a special place to be. The End of an Era Today is officially the last day of school for our Year 12 students. Laura and Cody have spent their last 13 years as part of our school community and it has been an absolute pleasure to see them grown into the outstanding young adults that are today. They have a special place in our school and will be sadly missed. We are very proud of the young adults that they have become and we wish them all the best. Make sure you chase your dreams! NAPLAN Parents of our Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students should have received their NAPLAN results this week. There are some extremely pleasing results. If you would like to talk about your child's results or have any questions please contact the school. Primary News Mrs Frost (Assistant Principal) Wow! What a busy term. It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of Term Three already. When I reflect on everything we have achieved this term we have certainly had a variety of worthwhile learning opportunities.

The Foundation and Year 1/2 students had enjoyable day at the Pioneer Settlement on Wednesday. This added to a busy week for the Foundation students who performed 'The Mexican Hat Dance' at our Primary Assembly on Monday.

The students and teachers have been busy preparing art work and handwriting for the upcoming Swan Hill Show. We certainly have some talented students around and I can't wait to see it all displayed.

I hope you all enjoy a well deserved break with your children over the holidays. I am looking forward to a rest, as well as all the exciting opportunities that will come our way in term 4.

Year Three/Four Miss Everall (Class Teacher) Continuing with our theme of rainforests this term, students wrote a narrative set in the rainforest.

Students put a great amount of effort into these narratives, which will be displayed in the library next term after they have been published.

Students have also designed and created a sculpture of their chosen rainforest animal. These look great and students should be proud of their efforts.

Carlee the Camper By Lucy “Finally, we’re here!’ said Carlee. She ran out of the bus with Tilly, her pet jaguar cub. They were on camp at the Daintree Rainforest in Australia.

Carlee is 9 years old with blue eyes and long brown hair. Carlee has 3 other friends at camp, Lilly, Kate and Bree. They were all so excited.

After Carlee and Tilly set up their tent and sleeping bags, they thought that they should have a wander around. They could hear the chirping of the macaws, the hissing of the snakes, the roar of the jaguars and lots more.

As Carlee was walking around with Tilly, Tilly heard a caiman (a caiman is an alligatorid crocodialian found throughout Central and South America) and got completely spooked. When Carlee turned around, Tilly was nowhere to be seen. “Tilly!” shouted Carlee, scared and worried about Tilly. Her heart was pumping so fast, she felt like she

was going to have a panic attack. Carlee was so freaked out, she was going to explode. Where could she be she asked herself, as Carlee kept searching and searching for her poor, little Tilly. She was nowhere to be seen and Carlee was getting more anxious thinking about her. “Tilly please come back,” begged Carlee, frightened about Tilly.

Carlee found a river and knew that Tilly wouldn’t be able to get to the other side by herself, so she turned back around. Carlee had been looking for Tilly for hours and she felt so tired, she was nearly going to fall asleep. Carlee was so exhausted she forgot where camp was. “Oh no! Where is camp?” cried Carlee as she began to stress.

When Carlee was exploring for Tilly and the camp, she found a dark green enchanted temple. The windows were shattered and it was covered in vines. It looked spooky. She climbed the temple to look for camp. In the distance she saw a fire and presumed it was camp. She knew where to go now. Carlee climbed back down the temple and rushed to camp. When she arrived back at camp, she found Tilly asleep on her sleeping bag!

Secondary News Head Teachers Report Jean Duma (Head Teacher) This week sees the final week of formal education for our Year 12 students. After 13 years of schooling, you are now starting the next chapter in your life journey. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours as you set out on the path to higher education and employment. Our Stage 6 students will also be preparing for their upcoming HSC exams, beginning on the 18 October. Use your holidays to study wisely, but also enjoy some relaxation and recreation too. Staff will be available during normal lesson times when Term 4 begins, so please make use of this time to clarify questions, go over past papers and prepare for your exams.

PDHPE Jean Duma (Teacher) All students in years 7-10 have been studying dance during the last few weeks of this term. Students formed their own groups and created their own dance to a set piece of music. Stage 4 students have completed their dance assessments along with one Stage 5 group with the remainder to be performed early next term. I am impressed with the cooperation and team work shown by the students as they implemented various components of dance to choreograph their routines. In Health, Stage 4 students have been working on their Safety games assessment exploring risk, consequences, strategies to minimise harm and support services. We have games ranging from board games to quiz/trivia activities, and students are looking forward to engaging with these early next term. Stage 5 students have been exploring a range of health issues that affect young people and are currently finalising their research project on one of these issues, before presenting this to the class early next term.
