Thirty-second Sunday in ordinary time

My Dear Friends, Today we celebrate Stewardship Sunday, which is central to our human and Chris an voca ons. The unique voca on each one of us receives from God, is that we be good stewards of the gi s we possess. God gives us this divine-human workshop, this world and Church of ours. The Spirit shows us the way. Stewardship is a part of that journey. Stewardship is returning a por on of our gi s to God. The gi s we return are our me, our talent, and our treasure. We return these gi s not because God or our Church needs them, but because we feel an overwhelming need to show our love and gra tude to God. The challenge, then, is to under-stand our role—our voca on—and to respond generously to this call from God. Stewardship is about realizing how gi ed one is and then properly using that gi in return for all that God has given us.

Stewardship is really about gra tude. It isn’t a scheme to bring in more money or volunteers. It’s not a “program” or a “campaign.” Stewardship is a Way of Life – where stewards start to look at everything good as a gi from God. In return, we give God the gi of our TIME by a ending mass weekly and by se ng aside an hour of our me during the week in worship and prayer.

There’s a constant need for new members and new volunteers. We rely on the help of God but we also rely on the help of people. We invite you to make a commitment to give God a gi of your talent in service to our parish family--by being involved in one of our parish ministries. If you are involved already, please recommit yourself or maybe, be adventuresome! Explore another minis-try, join another group. For those who are not involved, please consider joining a ministry that you think best suits your skills and talents. For many Catho-lics, when they hear the word “stewardship,” they immediately think “it’s all about the money.” But Stewardship isn’t a scheme to bring in more money. Stewardship is a Way of Life – where stewards start to look at everything good as a gi from God. Out of gra tude, Stewardship is about giving back. It’s about offering up our grateful hearts to our Heavenly Father. It’s about giv-ing back to God a por on of the many good gi s He has blessed us with. Today, we invite you to make a commitment to give God a Gi of your TIME by a ending mass weekly and by se ng aside an hour of your me during the week in worship and prayer. Remember, God gives each of us 24 hours in a day and 168 hours in a week. While each of us will be given a different number of days on this earth, me remains our most valuable commodity. If we want to spend eternity with God, start spending me with Him now--and all God is asking is at least an hour of our me dur-ing the week. We invite you to make a commitment to give God a Gi of your talent in service to our parish family--by being in-volved in one of our parish ministries. If you are involved already, please recommit yourself or maybe, be adventuresome, explore another ministry, join another group. h ps://deaconpathomily.blogspot.com/2009/11/homily-32nd-sunday-ordinary- me.html
