A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,

This past month Emily Stuckey stepped down

as our youth minister. She enjoyed her ministry

but felt she was not able to be the mom she

wants to be and the youth minister she wants to

be at the same time. We are grateful for her

ministry and of her husband, Andrew, who sup-

ported her. We wish them well with their young

family and look forward to them being parishioners.

I am very grateful and excited to introduce

Carmen Lopez as our new youth minister.

Carmen is a parishioner, married with two chil-

dren, middle and high school age. She has been

part of the Family Faith Formation Team and is

looking for a career change. She has a wonder-

ful way about her in relating to people with joy

and enthusiasm. Please welcome Carmen!

GET TO KNOW CARMEN My name is Carmen Lopez, my husband Jesse

and I moved to Lakemoor about 17 years ago.

Jesse works in insurance and is a fantastic

baseball player, some of you may know him from

the church softball team or TMIY. Jesse and I

have been married for 18 years. The secret to

our marital success is the unwavering knowledge

that we have each other’s back, our ability to

make each other laugh and our love for movies

(and popcorn). We are the proud parents of two

girls; Jocelyn, who is going to be

a freshmen at McHenry East.

She is an amazing artist in draw-

ing and watercolor, excellent

academically and seems shy but

she is actually a comedian and

is really witty. Caitlyn is in 6th

grade at MMS and is also a

brilliant artist but focuses on 3D

art like sewing stuffed toys and

needle felting animals, she loves to bake, is

hilarious and really lovable.

Professionally, I spent the last 20+ years in

corporate recruiting for a number of Fortune

500 companies. Aside from working full-time, I

enjoy making jewelry (working with mostly silver

with gemstones), and dabbling in different types

of arts and crafts. I have recently re-found my

love for baking and for the last three years I was

a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

Our family joined Holy Apostles 12 years ago

because it felt so welcoming and modern. Five

years ago I volunteered to teach Religious Edu-

cation and my heart was filled with joy teaching

First Reconciliation and First Communion, seeing the children

grow in their faith has been an amazing gift for my soul. Last

year I joined the design team for Family Faith Formation where I

have really enjoyed the creativity and collaboration with other

parents.

I am very excited, honored and humbled for the opportunity to

take this next step in my faith journey with you all and look for-

ward to continuing to build the Youth Ministry together.

Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Pray,

listen, and feel the peace that He gives

us so lovingly. Break from your busy life to

acknowledge His comforting love. Please

pray about committing to being a permanent adorer,

either by yourself, with a prayer partner or even a

group to rotate weeks. You do not have to be a member of

Holy Apostles to be a scheduled adorer. Current open

St. Peregrine Cancer Support Meets St. Peregrine Cancer Support Group is a multi-parish

group of cancer survivors and caregivers, formed to

offer a place for individuals, families, caregivers, and

anyone concerned about cancer to meet with others to

share information, concerns, and pray together for

support. The group meets the second Tuesday of every

month, next on August 8 at St. John the Baptist School,

Johnsburg at 10 AM, second floor. Meetings rotate

from Holy Apostles, St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s in

McHenry, St. John the Baptist in Johnsburg, and St.

Woman of Inspiration is Traci Stevens Congratulations to Traci Stevens, chosen as Holy

Apostles’ 2017 Catholic Woman of Inspiration! Traci

generously gives her time, talent and treasure to our

parish in various functions, as well as serving the com-

munity at large. At Holy Apostles, Traci serves as a

Liturgy Coordinator, Family Faith Formation teacher,

and Compassionate Minister. She is a member of the

Pastoral Council, Respect Life Ministry and is an adorer

at the Adoration Chapel. In the community, Traci serves

as a volunteer at the VFW, Centegra and PADS. Traci

and all the Women of Inspiration of the McHenry

Deanery will be honored at the annual recognition din-

ner on September 17, 2017.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) RCIA is a process through which people learn about the

Catholic faith. RCIA is for you if:

You have never been Baptized;

You have been Baptized as a Catholic but not received

any other sacraments;

You have been Baptized in another faith;

You have been Baptized, received your First Commun-

ion, but have not been Confirmed in the Catholic faith; or

You are a Catholic who has been Confirmed but wants

to learn more about your faith. Anyone is welcome to

Mujer de Inspiración, Traci Stevens ¡Felicitaciones a Traci Stevens, escogida como la Mujer de

Inspiración de los Santos Apóstoles 2017! Traci gener-
