RENOVATION UPDATE …

There’s been big progress in the St. Pius X renovation as we can see from the exterior. The shape of the building is really starting to look like a Church. What exactly are the changes taking place? See information below from the project managers at Executech Corporation: What’s the overall progress in the Church renovation? The St Pius X project is moving forward as planned and currently in the stages of receiving its newly designed and engineered roof. What’s happening with the roof of the Church? The roof, specifically, will undergo a substantial transformation. The new design calls for Glue Laminated Wood Beams – or Glulams -- cross braced to serve as the framework for an entire new Clerestory ceiling area. Can you explain Glulams -- What are they? Why are they important?Glue Laminated Beams are structurally designed wood members that are ideal for open frame structures such as the new St Pius X roof. They are very important and a milestone of the project as they support an entire new roof elevation with the appropriate wind load and overall structural support while remaining aesthetically pleasing. How long will the roof take? The roof construction and remaining project construction will carry us through the new year with an end date set in sight for early Spring. What’s the benefit of the new roof design? The new roof design will allow much more light to the church and also open the space. With a new overall ridge height, the Church will feel bigger and more welcoming than ever before.

Money Raised: $2,340,885 as of october 1, 2012new Pledges over next 4 years: additional $917,557

THE NEW SAINT PIUS X CHURCH Bringing Our Vision to Life.

Phase 1 Highlights:• Raise roof and add row of high windows to enhance the ceiling and drench the Church with natural light (light represents Christ).• Custom designed floor to ceiling stained glass window in back of the Altar.• New stained glass windows depicting the Seven Sacraments.• New Liturgical items: Altar, Ambo, Baptismal Font, Tabernacle, Shrine to Joseph, etc.• Move choir alongside congregation.• New reconciliation rooms.• New small sacristy behind new sanctuary area. • Reverse the direction of the congregation so that Priests and Parishioners can enter from the back of the Church.• Outdoor prayer and meditation garden.• Takes the place of major repairs or improvements such as replacing seals on leaded glass, repairing leak over back entrance to the basement and replacing the roof.

Phase 2 Highlights:• Clearly identifies entrance to the Church.• Maintains separate identity between School and Church.• Large gathering space and facilities for receptions, such as those that occur after the Family Mass.• New meditation chapel to Mary.

While recognizing that financial times are never optimal, the Parish Council, Finance Committee and Trustees along with the late Father O’Brien and our current pastor, Father Sebastian, believe that we should renovate our Church to transform the present structure into a classic Church structure equipped for modern worship practices to give glory to God and better serve our community’s spiritual and personal needs.

The renovation will be done in two phases. We are beginning Phase 1. Phase 2 will follow after Phase 1. (See below)

Monies Donated to Date:$2,340,885 has been donated and an additional $917,557 has been pledged over the next 1–4 years.

How can I help in the Renovation? We want everyone to be a builder BUT only about half of the registered Parishioners have donated to the renovation. We pray that every Parish family will make a sacrificial gift towards renewing our Church. Every donation makes a difference – financially and spiritually. Donations can be made all at once or over 3 years.

ADDITIoNAL MoNIES NEEDED:60½% of the Parish has contributed approximately 75% of the funds required. If we do not achieve full participation by the Parish, some of the functional and aesthetic aspects of the renovation will have to be sacrificed.

Hard Hat Tour of the Church:February 9-10 after all Masses.
