Development Logic for Copernicus CO2M Mission
• Development Logic principles have been agreed between ESA and EUMETSAT management as an outcome of ESA-EUMETSAT joint activity
• Space-Segment development, launch preparation and in-orbit validation are provided by ESA with EUMETSAT support.
• Ground-Segment Payload-Data Generation System (PDGS) will be developed by EUMETSAT.
• Space-Craft and Ground-Segment operations, validation and monitoring after handover will be carried out by EUMETSAT with ESA support.

Summary
❑EUMETSAT, ESA and ECMWF are joining forces to produce CO2 total column from CO2M and advanced plume and background characterisation for use of such data in a future European Verification and Support Capacity for the monitoring of anthropogenic CO2 emissions at unprecedented quality.
❑EUMETSAT is contributing to the development of Ground Segment requirements along with operational product validation and continuous product quality monitoring building on existing European ground-based network resources.
❑EUMETSATs ground processing concept is based on significant re-use of pre-existing multi-mission elements from across all EUMETSAT missions (including NWP mission) and infra-structure for increasing operational and cost efficiency.
