The Next 7 Days……
Lunch with the Stars
Last week our wonderful Mrs Forbes accompanied 6
of our students to ‘Lunch with the Stars’ held at
Wallsend library. Our students had a fantastic day
mixing with authors and illustrators who delivered the
inspiring messages- ‘never give up on your dreams and
if you want something and work towards it, it will
come’. All of our students received a signed copy of
the new edition of Thunderwith and had great fun
joining in with the illustration activities. Many thanks
to Mrs Forbes for organising such a fabulous ‘once in a
lifetime’ opportunity.
Remembrance Day
Last Thursday the 11th
our students observed
one minute's silence at
11am to remember those
who died or suffered for
Australia's cause in all
wars and armed conflicts.
I was very proud our
students reflections,
pride and empathy shown
on this special occasion.
Congratulations also to Lachlan and Zac for their
moving marching drill.

Congratulations to Lucia Finch and Tara Kajendren 2B,
who have both taken responsibility for their own
learning, finishing their 2016 Premier’s Reading
Challenge in record time. Well done.
A big thank you to Asha Trisley, Alannah O’Brien,
Chelsea Crouch, Teia Bradbury, Lily Patterson and
Isabella Micevski who made Lunch with the Stars such
a great experience. The girls engaged with our author,
Jess Black, asking intelligent probing questions and
entered into the illustration activity with relish. I was
so proud to take a great group of dedicated students
to such a worthwhile event.
Our last BookClub for the year will close this Friday,
20th November at 9am.

Lunch with the Stars Lunch with the Stars was a great experience which I
would recommend to the other students from
Eleebana Primary School. The authors were really
funny and they are definitely great role models for
us young students. The food was really good, which
was great because I was starving.
One activity that was a lot of fun was when
different students from the schools had to draw
out a noun, a verb and an adverb and put them
together to illustrate, some of them were A tree vomiting sadly or A tower dancing excitedly. Then,
we would have to draw them, the illustrators drew
their version at the same time and they were
definitely better than all of mine by far.
Altogether, it was a great experience and the next
group who get the opportunity will learn a lot and
have a blast!

Lunch with the Stars On Tuesday, Alana, Asha, Lily, Teia, Isabella, Mrs
Forbes and I, went to Lunch with the Stars at
Wallsend District Library where we had lunch with
fantastic authors and illustrators. On our table we
had Jess Black. Jess Black wrote the Bindi Books,
the RSPCA Books, a unicorn series and lots more.
This was a huge opportunity for us. We also met
Libby Hathorn and that was absolutely amazing! Our
table also received a Highly Commended Award for
the effort we put in to our table decorations.

OOSH News
There has been a lot happening down here at OOSH.
We have expanded our vegetable garden to include
another boat. We are attempting to grow cucumbers,
capsicum and beans in this one. We are all extremely
proud of how this project is going. We are especially
grateful to all the children for treating this area with
such respect and allowing the plants time to establish
and grow.
We would like to welcome Tanya Klein to our OOSH
staff team. Tanya will be taking on our book keeping
and in centre administration role. Tanya will be
working in the centre on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday mornings and Wednesday and Friday
afternoons; if you have any questions regarding your
account, payments or receipts you can come discuss
them with her during these times.
Please look out for your re-enrolment packages which
are available now. Current PERMANENT families will
have 2 weeks to return their new enrolment forms
with their registration. All outstanding fees must also
be paid before enrolment will be accepted. During this
two week period families will be able to re-accept
their permanent days from 2015 and enrol siblings for
these same days. There may be some flexibility to
swap or change days depending on availability – this is
not guaranteed. If you have a change in
circumstances and no longer require your spots please
let Kate or Amelia know as soon as possible.
Date for your diary - The next committee meeting will
be held on Tuesday 8th December at 6:30pm in the
OOSH room. Our OOSH service is operated by a
group of dedicated volunteer parents of the children
that attend the service. If you wish to have a voice in
the way our OOSH service is run you are invited to
come along to any committee meeting.
For enquiries or further information about the OOSH
please phone Kate or Amelia on 49428186 or visit us
between 7-9am or 2:30-3pm (please avoid after
3:00pm as this is our busiest time of the day and our
priority is taking care of the children)

‘Get Hooked’
The "Get Hooked it's fun to fish" program is
wrapping up the end of year free fishing workshops
for 2015. This year over 1,000 NSW primary school
students attended a free fishing workshop and put
the theory they learnt in class during the year into
practice. 39 workshops were held all over the state
from Brunswick Heads to Bermagui and out to
Dubbo and Mulwala, some great fish were caught.
Check out a short video of the program in action on
the DPI Facebook page.
Registrations for 2016 are now open. Get Hooked is
free and open to all primary schools in NSW. It is
run using funds from the Recreational Fishing
Trust, so if you you are a teacher or know of any
schools that would be interested in joining this
FREE program please contact us by emailing
