The floor heating with radiant panels is the system with the highest energetic efficiency widely spread in all European countries, which allows to design and build buildings in high Energy Class (Gold Class, Class A Plus etc.). The principle of operation of the system with radiating panels is based on the circulation of hot water at low temperature, typically between 30 ° C and 40 ° C, in a closed circuit, which is spread by covering a very high radiating surface.
The European Norm governing the design and installation of heating floor is EN 1264 (waterbased surface embedded heating and cooling system), which applies to all residential buildings, offices and other buildings the use of which corresponds or it is similar to that of residential buildings (eg. hotels, nursing houses, colleges, convents, barracks, etc.). This Norm covers the main definitions and their symbols, related to the installations with underfloor heating, fed with hot water, used in residential or similar. It does not apply to heating systems with wooden floor, while it can be used in the case where other heating means are used instead of water.
The Norm EN 1264 is structured into 5 parts:
• EN 1264-1: 2011 Definitions and symbols
• EN 1264-2: 2008, A1:2012 Floor heating: prove methods for the determination of the thermal output using calculation test methods • EN 1264-3: 2009: Dimensioning of both heating and cooling system - effective thickness• EN 1264-4: 2009 Installation
• EN 1264-5: 2008 Heating and cooling surfaces embadded in floors, ceilings and walls -Determination of the thermal output
The NORM EN 1264-4, at paragraph 4.1.2.2.1 table1, recommends what should be the minimum values of thermal resistance (RD) of the insulating panels used in the underfloor heating systems, distinguishing five different cases, based on the conditions existing under the heated rooms. These minimum values of thermal resistance (RD) translate in EFFECTIVE THICKNESSES reported in the following tables for the various types of insulating boards used.

TMS® is an insulation product with ACERMI (France) certificate and Marking
Advantages
TMS®is interlocking milled on all four sides: in this way thermal bridges are limited. Pontage on adjacent board joints is not bonded.
TMS® is a board with high rigidity and density: this allows an easier cut, limiting dust and trash in building sites.
TMS® has French Classification SC1 a2 Ch: suitable for installation in all loading repartition caps and with all heating systems.
TMS® surface coatings are resistant to steam.
TMS® is flat and rigid: this facilitates the movements in building sites and the installation is quick, thanks to simplified interlocking on all fours sides.
TMS® is screen-printed on squares of 10 cm. to facilitate cutting, the tile pattern and laying of heating elements.
TMS® has got good thermo-acoustic performances (see adjacent table according the French Norm).
TMS® has the best thermal conductivity and the best performance/thickness ratio in the market.

LayingThe panels are laid with staggered joints, interlocking them each other to limit the thermal bridges. Plumbing or heating coils are mounted directly on the panels. Provide for joints pontage with a waterproof adhesive in the case of underfloor heating systems.
Vertical jointsPut on the perimeter of vertical walls a polyethylene peripheral adhesive strip Efirive before the laying of TMS® panels on the horizontal floor.
TMS
TMS is a polyurethane foam consisting of a multilayer coating on both faces, screen-printed with a 100 mm pitch to facilitate the eventual installation of the pipe, for thermal insulation with radiant floor or on a floating pavement.
Application
