Bulletin for July 2017
July, 2017
Dear Parish Family,
As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we give thanks to God for our great coun-
try. In a special way, let us remember all the men and women who are cur-
rently serving our country, those that gave their lives, and all the Veterans.
During the summer months, our ministries will be preparing for the next
year. Please keep them in your prayers.
We want to thank everyone who helped at our Summer Camp. This year, we
were able to minister to hundreds of children in our neighborhood. Congratu-
lations to Ian Perez, his team and especially to our benefactors, Robert
Grimm Family Foundation, St. Francis Altar Guild, Richard and Cindy
Jones, Caroline Alonzo, Terry Geivet, Woolgrowers and T.A. & T.D. Murray.
A special thank you to a fraternity brother of mine, Lloyd Talbert, and his
wife, Julie, who came to visit Bakersfield and were so inspired by our pro-
gram, that they made a large contribution to our summer camp.
Please have a safe summer and remember to take a vacation but not from
God. May God bless, you and your families.
Blessings,
The Month dedicated to the Precious Blood of Our Lord

From the desk of Heidi Scott:
Music ministry is always looking for
unused instruments. If you have something in
the closet you might like to donate to
St Francis Music Ministry we will be glad to
take it. Music Ministry is a great calling for
many people but they do not have an
instrument to get started. We will do our best
to get the instrument into playable condition
and pass it on to someone who
wants to learn.
Call our Music Director, Heidi Scott for
further details at the parish office.

spiritual gifts and together we build the Body of Christ.

Serving Christ by Helping People In Need
Did you know that on any given Monday night at St. Francis, not just during the holidays, you can find hundreds of homeless
individuals and needy families finding comfort and warmth with-
in the walls of our Parish Hall? This year alone, thousands of men, women, and children have come to our Parish for the first
time to receive a warm nutritious dinner provided by our St. Therese Little Flower Society and most of these people come
back on a weekly basis. Why you might ask? Because this is a place where they can belong, a place where all are welcome and
our goal is to embrace all in need by lending a helping hand
when times are tough and we couldn’t serve them without your help.
When you serve in ministry, you are caring for the body of Christ. Jesus taught us how to treat others and how to create a
just world. These teachings remind us to respect all life, to place the needs of the poor and vulnerable first, to embrace family and
community, and to stand in solidarity with others to care for all
creation.
Respond to God’s call to end both physical and spiritual hunger. There are a number of ways you can serve with us year round.
To get involved with the Monday Night Dinner ministry call the
Parish Office at 661-327-4734 to leave a message for the St. Therese Little Flower Ministry.
