The renal department performed

100 kidney transplants in 2010 afirst for the trust. On 22nd March all

the live donors for the year werehonoured with a celebration event to

acknowledge their gift of kidney

donation. This was attended by thedonors, recipients and their families

and friends. Guests heard fromclinicians on how important their

donations had been. 59 live donor

nephrectomies took place in 2010, two

of which were from altruistic donors.

Thanks to popular television dramaswe are all now familiar with theworld of Crime Scene Investigators(CSI) who, when not hot on the heelsof their suspects, are visiting themortuary to identify vital clues.The trusts mortuary team, based inJenner Wing, may not receive regularvisits from CSIs like Gil Grissom orHoratio Caine but they still play animportant role in the work of thetrust.

The teamRobin Dobinson, mortuarymanager, started working atSt Georges in 1978 at HydePark Corner as a theatreporter. He became a mortuarytechnologist in 1980, the yearthat the hospital moved to

Tooting. He became mortuarymanager in 2002.

Matt Haswell, deputymortuary manager, started in2000 in the St Georges,University of London anatomyschool as a dissecting roomtechnician. He moved to themortuary in 2003 as amortuary technologist andwas appointed deputymanager in 2009.

Barbara Peters, senior

mortuary technologist,started at North Bristol HealthTrust in 1991 as abiochemistry laboratorytechnician. She moved to NHSScotland in 1999 and becamea mortuary technologist.From there, she moved to StGeorges Healthcare in 2009as a senior mortuarytechnologist and lead inperinatal services.

Stephanie Moore, mortuary

technologist, started in 2009as a trainee mortuarytechnologist and qualified in2010Claire Robb, traineemortuary technologist,started in the cytologydepartment in 2009 as amedical laboratory assistantand became a trainee in 2010.She will qualify in 2012.

Glitter, lipstick, high heels and awhole lot of hairspray were the key

ingredients for a fabulous night offundraising fashion at SurbitonHigh School.

Fundraisingfor the WolfsonTen-year-old Maisie Goodwin-Pratthas raised 55 for the WolfsonRehabilitation Centre in thanks forhelping her grandmother, GillianGoodwin.

St Georges welcomed avery special family to apresentation at the hospitallast week the Wallacefamily, who have beenfundraising for St Georgesfor just under a year.
