Jonas’s community decided to eliminate memories to stop pain. In turn this caused people to not remember happy occasions as well.

Chapters 10-14 1. The fact that the attendant stands to greet him and the locked doors make

2. The furnishings are slightly more luxurious, and it contains more books than the usual household reference books.

3. He is supposed to receive the memories of the whole world, not just those of the previous Receiver.

4. The first memory he transmits to Jonas is the memory of sledding through snow.

5. They are unfamiliar to him because of Sameness and Climate Control. 6. He doesn�t mind the rule because he doesn�t know how he could describe
