October, 2019
Meet the Popham’s
at 9:30 a.m. breakfast on
Sunday, October 6
Growing in Christ together through worship,
fellowship, ministry and stewardship.
Continued on page 2
Dear Good Shepherd:
I am totally thrilled to have Father Jim and Jo Popham
joining us as “Priests in Charge” at Good Shepherd. We
are glad to have them as part of our church.
Let us pray for Father Jim and Jo, who serve Christ’s
Church, here on earth.
Let your holy love surround them and shield them from
the world’s contagion.
Protect them, guide them, and keep them in your heart.
Heavenly Father, grant that our priests be strengthened
and healed by the power of the Eucharist they cele-
brate.
May the word they proclaim give them courage and wis-
dom. Let them have faith for the future. Father,
please give my priests your wisdom. Help them to know
the way to go, even when the way is not clear. Give them
discernment to know good from evil, even when evil is
dressed as good. Help them apply your word to even the
most confusing situations.
I fell in love with the Pophams immediately, as did the
rest of the vestry, and several members of the search
committee involved in the interviewing process.
I ask all of you to open your hearts to them, and invite
them in.
Page 2
I ask you to:
Pray for Father Jim and Jo, daily.
Cook them a meal, especially on busy days like Sundays and holidays.
Celebrate their special days birthdays, day of their priestly ordination.
Pray more, complain less. Offer to help. Volunteer your time to the parish as a sign of sup-
port and service.
Write them a note expressing your gratitude.
Say thank you.
Give them a compliment.
“Save the drama for your Mama.” Don’t gossip or criticize, instead offer to help and
buildup.
Establish a Relationship.
Father, please give Father Jim and Jo deep sustaining friendships at Good Shepherd.
May God enrich our lives together as we worship and serve him. Genesis 21:22
Blessings,
Becky Watson, Senior Warden

Oct. 20 New Study Begins: The BE Atti-
tudes: Ten Paths to Holiness with Albert
Haase, OFM
Each of us is called to discover our own
unique way to grow in holiness whether it be
as a parent, spouse, babysitter, beautician,
bartender or businessperson. And no matter
the occupation or role we play in life, there
are ten characteristics that should shine in
the life of every Christian disciple. These are
what Fr. Albert Haase calls the BE Attitudes.
Each presentation explores one or more of
these ten BE Attitudes that will shape each of
us into the person God calls us to be.
