I hope that you are looking

forward to Thanksgiving and the time for food and family that come with it. I enjoy the pumpkin pie and sugar cream pie. Maybe some of the younger cousins will be outside for backyard football. The beauty of the colorful leaves, not yet fallen, adorn our way. A special way to give thanks to God is bringing your gift to Mass for our pastoral region, which will be held at St. Peter’s at 9 AM. I encourage you to bring canned goods and other non-perishables as well to support our St. Vincent de Paul. If you will not be able to be with family this year, consider coming to the community meal at Zion Lutheran Church from 12-3 PM.

I am thankful for many things: relatively good health, caring people in each parish and as friends, the security found in being a child of God. In a particular way, I am thankful for the recently married couples who came and joined us this past Friday. The preparation for marriage and beginning of marriage are exciting times. As with any relationship, it will have its ups and downs, so I like to hear how they are doing. The gathering for couples married the past year was a small gesture to assure them of our support. I am also thankful for the married couples who assist with marriage preparation. It’s likely our pastoral region will benefit from more couples saying “yes” to our engaged ministry.

Perhaps this year as you (and your children) reflect on the first Thanksgiving that has become associated with the national holiday, you will give some extra thought to the ability for the colonists and the Indians, different cultures, to have shared a meal together. Our day certainly sees a need for healing.

What a joy to know, love, and serve the good God—and give Him thanks!

German Village Christmas Walk Sleigh bells on horse-drawn carriages will ring once again for the 26th Annual Christmas Walk in Hamilton’s Historic German Village. The German Village Association will be celebrating on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from noon to 5:00 PM. The German Village Historic District was the first historic

district established in Hamilton, Ohio in 1973 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The buildings date from early 1800 to 1900. We are fortunate to have many of Hamilton’s beautiful historic buildings with our nine square block district.

Large toy soldiers on our German Village arches and village ambassadors will welcome and assist you as you wander through the decorated historic homes and businesses as strolling musicians fill the air with holiday song. Enjoy a carriage ride, visit with Santa, and see live reindeer and a petting zoo. And visitors can purchase crafts and gifts and enjoy many tasty delights along the way.
