IN THE LIGHT OF THE STAR

Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany seasons have been a way that God has

truly blessed us through Scripture, prayer, the Advent Wreath, Hanging of the

Greens, the Chrismon Trees, recitals, plays, The Nutcracker Ballet, Christmas

caroling, Christmas Eve Services, Medita,on Services, the candle light and The

Lord’s Supper, gingerbread house building, bap, sms, visit by Santa, meals,

tes, monies, praise and worship, the Cantata with the choir, orchestra, drama,

mission teams, Nourish One Child, Celebrate Recovery, Life Resources, Bible

studies, par,es, and the old post office with the exchanging of cards along with

special gi0s. We have had an absolutely amazing God ordained ,me. We have to

admit God’s presence was humbly and boldly with us making many proclaim this

to be one of the most special holy seasons ever!

And now we’ve turned the first page of the new year and God says

welcome my children into hope, love, joy, peace, and the Christ Himself. What is

ahead for us? Well, we do not know fully, except we do know beyond a shadow of

doubt that God is with us and the best is yet to be! It is like the li7le lady said in

the church long ago about the chocolate served at the fellowship meals, “it just

gets gooder and gooder all the ,me!” Excuse her grammar, but the sweet lady

certainly got the point across to everyone.

In the light of The Star, Ma7hew 2:1-12, let us see the star, follow the star,

con,nue even when we cannot see, worship, and go home a different way

physically, emo,onally, mentally, and spiritually!

Yours in Christ,

Steve

Thank you so very much!!

The staff appreciates the

though?ul love offering

gi0s from our generous

It is an honor to serve our

With great thanksgiving,

Your Staff at FUMC

MISSION POSSIBLE! John 3:30 “He must become greater; I must become less.” This was our theme

verse for Winter Mission to Music City as our team of 19 set out to serve others. Our

focus was to bring individual talents and gi0s for the gain of our team - we are so much

stronger together. Our goal was simply to be of maximal service to God and each of HIS

children we encounter. This is a Mission Possible for our Youth, for our Church, and for

our Chris,an Community.

A0er some team building pre-mission work at the church; we went straight to

work upon arrival in Nashville. Our service at the Second Harvest Food Bank was very

similar to Nourish One Child as we packed nearly 2,000 nourishment bags for the

backpacks of food insecure children. Day 2 returned us to The Li+le Pantry That Could

which is an ‘off the grid’ food bank where clients only qualifica,on is to need food. Our

students served as stockers, baggers, and personal shoppers assis,ng in mee,ng the

need for groceries but also for connec,on. Sunday morning our hearts were filled and

spirits restored joining in worship with our host, Principal Kim Hass, at NorthField

Church. From there we met with Sanctuary Homeless Refuge under the Jefferson Bridge

helping provide a meal, to-go sandwiches, fruit, and warm clothes (that a few of you all

provided!!). Much more important were the stories, companionship, and prayers shared

with so many new neighbors. Our final service site was Project CURE providing much

needed medial supplies to hospitals and clinics in underserved countries. We sorted,

stacked, and restocked areas where supplies had been removed for a large shipment to

restore a hospital in the Congo.

Service is our Mission but personal growth, stepping out of comfortable, and

growing confident in Christ is always a part of our group ,me, games, and open

sharing. FUMC - we are blessed with so many young believers who always show up with

open hearts, amazing perseverance, and to glorify God. Youth, Church, Brothers &

Sisters in Christ - Our Mission con,nues...and our Mission is Possible!!

Blessings, Hardin

“Read THE Book 2019”

This past year I issued a challenge for anyone who was interested to read through the Bible together in 2019. Many of us met together each week to discuss what we were reading and as of December 31, many of us met our goal. I’d like to acknowledge those who made it all the way through and thank them for their involvement in some interesting and honest discussions along the way. It was a wonderful experience! Congratulations to Joyce Kennamer, Dot Claybrook, Dan and Lou Stewart, Carolyn Rogers, Bonnie Weeks, Amy Holder, Elizabeth Stout, Peggy Courtney, Nancy Hodges, Deb Crawford, Mary Nixon, and Stella Benson. We did it!!!

We will be performing the living “Last Supper” on Good Friday, April 10th.

Characters are needed to play the disciples and Jesus. Audi, ons will be held.

To be Announced. Dr. Les Hutson, Music Director

A Mercy Minute

With all our hurts, habits, and hang-ups, saying

“no” is simply not enough. More important is

what...or to whom we say “YES”. Step 12 teaches

us to always be prepared and willing to yield to

God’s calling. Kim Woodin will be teaching the CR

Lesson en,tled ‘Yes’ this Thursday night. It may be

uncomfortable, inconvenient, and inconsistent

with our past behaviors...but when it is from

God...say YES - Jesus will be right there with you!

Blessings, Hardin

All of our members who are homebound, at assisted living facili5es, and nursing homes.

HAPPY 2020!!!!!

year ever! I am excited about all the things

that God has in store for us! The Children’s

Ministry is off to a great start with Our

Epiphany celebra,ons during Sunday

School and Sunday evening. Join us this

Sunday for more faith and fun as we learn about Jesus!!

Room at the Inn

We desperately need Chaperone Volunteers for 11 Thursday nights between now and April 1st (11 Women and 11 men).

We have cots for the volunteer chaperones. You don't need to stay awake all night. No heavy li0ing, etc. There will always

be a minimum of two Chaperone's and we will pair you with a trained Chaperone so you will know what to do. Just be

there to pick them up with the church van, Chaperone the evening and drive them back to the Life Resource building in

the morning. If you need to leave early in the morning we can arrange for that. Brother Alan

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in preparing the Church for Christmas. PuMng things in place and removing

a0er the celebra,on is a labor of teamwork love that all benefit and rings praises to God through His Son Jesus Christ.
