The Grapevine MAY, 2020 Cove Spring Church ~ 5705 Walnut Grove Road ~ Troy, Ohio ~937-214-4416 ~ Pastor Greg Morrow 1 "The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these! Your royal laws cannot be changed. Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever." -Psalm 93 This month I want us to reflect on one of the greatest truths that will bring calm to our hearts in times like these. It is the sovereignty of God. Notice how the Psalmists speaks of God's sovereignty. God is King over all the universe and his throne has and will endure throughout all time. Global crisis may shake the world like violent raging seas, but God is mightier than these. How can the reality of God's sovereignty be something that we not only agree with mentally, but that transforms our hearts into a state of calm and confident trust? One way that helps me is that whenever my mind tends to drift towards thoughts of anxiety and worse-case scenarios I redirect my mind to the truth that God is sovereign over this universe and His unseen hand is guiding history towards his plan. By redirecting my mind my heart regains confidence. I have found that I have to repeat this process over and over again. My prayer for you this month is that you would lean on the truth of God's sovereignty during this moment in time in our world. Faithfully, Pastor Greg Morrow

"The Lord is king!

Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever." -Psalm 93

This month I want us to reflect on one of the greatest truths that will bring calm to our hearts in times like these.

Cove Spring is still here with a few adjustments. We are all living with daily developments due to the Coronavirus illness in our

country. Because we are now in a “slow recovery” period under the guidelines of our State Governor, we will be continuing our efforts to use common sense and act responsibly by following our current procedures for our on-line services.

Therefore, we are going to continue to make full use of the opportunities provided to us through our beautiful NEW website through which the Pastor’s weekly sermons will be available uninterrupted; Live-streaming through Facebook at 9:30am Sunday mornings, and from YouTube. The newsletters will still come to you through the website, email, and US mail.

We have a group of dedicated volunteer members who are making themselves available to pick up groceries, medicines, or help in other ways necessary. If you are a senior or at high risk and can’t get out, please call Pastor Greg at 937-214-4416 and he will put you in touch with one of our volunteers.

We’re still here and we still care.

Luke 13:24 (NIV) Jesus said, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will

try to enter and will not be able to.

A devout follower of Jesus Christ, my mom has emailed a “Weekly Inspiration” to her children, friends, and co-workers for over five years. Each of these emails contains an insightful and empowering message that has served as a guide for me on how to live out the week ahead through believing and having faith in God. My mom’s relationship with God always serves as an example for me of what Jesus meant when he said, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door.”

Mom has always made her best effort in her own journey toward salvation, and is constantly finding new ways to spread the word of Christ and lead others to him. From her weekly inspirations, to distributing The Upper Room, to being an active church member, my mom inspires me to be a better person and to make sure I am putting forth my best effort for God’s kingdom.

Prayer: Dear God, each day give us the courage and strength to live out our lives according to your will. Amen.
