Welcome, Adventurer! This is a short adventure for four, 3rd level characters. You can use the map, game tiles and minis to help run the quest. Begin by handing out the letter from Tykus to the players.

The Trouble At PortThe party arrives at a sea port, after being contacted by a scholar friend of theirs – Tykus of Grayhaven (human noble). He has recently decoded certain ancient texts indicating a mys-terious item of great power, “the Great Seed”, may be located on a small island some way off the coast. He wasted no time in contacting the party and chartering a sailing ship – eager to depart at once.

As the party arrives, they witness four bandits led by a bandit captain attempting to steal the ship Tykus has chartered. The party witnesses the captain fell Tykus with a blow, as the other pirates cast off lines. The ship has already been made ready for sail and it drifts 10 ft. away from port on initiative count zero each round. The pirates don’t notice the party until they call attention to themselves.

The pirates have half cover against any attacks made from the port to the ship, and advantage on attack rolls against characters on lower ground.

Once the pirates have been defeated, Tykus recovers and is able to help the party sail the ship toward the location of “the Island Green”.

The Sorrowful SeasThe voyage goes smoothly, but as the party closes in on the location of the island the ship becomes mired in a heavy, unnatural fog. From within the depths of the fog, the sound of heavy sobbing and the lamentation of “Yom... Oh, poor Yom...” can be heard, over and over. The source is a sorrowful marid who sits atop the waves, crying pitifully. The genie’s huge tears sublimate into thick fog as they touch the water, rendering the entire region unnavigable.

The genie cries because it has discovered its friend, a treant named Yom, has perished from a strange magic poison. Even worse, the poison which killed the treant is now slowly poisoning

the whole island. In order to navigate the fog, the party must

somehow cheer the genie up and get her to stop crying. Once the crying stops, the fog dissipates and the island can finally be reached.

The genie can be cheered up with a DC 20 Charisma (Performance) check. A failure leaves genie more sorrowful than ever. However, genies have as soft spot for spectacle, and the check can be repeated once for each new party member who join in on the performance. If the entire party (including the tone-deaf Tykus) all join in and perform together, the genie can’t help but crack a smile and the check automat-ically succeeds. The GM is encouraged to ask each player on how their character is helping in the performance.

The Mysterious IslandThis small island appears to be empty, except for moss-covered boulders and low foliage, punctuated by the occasional tree. It’s clear that the growth is unusual – a medley of plants that would normally never be found growing side-by-side. Near the center of the island is a large dead tree - the remains of a treant. Three shal-low circular depressions, 3 ft. across, sit just in front of the dead tree. Deep, narrow channels lead from the depressions to the wooden husk.

Once the party lands, the three caretakers of the island, a trio of vine blights, begin to shadow the party.

Each blight takes the form of a different species of plant – a stunted yew, the twisted stump of an oak, and a great swollen mush-room. These previously devoted caretakers have become violent due to magical poisoning and they ambush and attack the party at the first opportunity. Due to the magic of the island, once reduced to 0 hit points a caretaker be-comes unconscious for two round, then returns to full hit points.

If all three caretakers are somehow placed in the depressions in front of the dead treant in the correct order (Yew, Oak, Mushroom, or “Y-O-M”) they turn into ordinary plants. The dead roots of the treant then shift out to the way and reveal the Great Seed in an earthen nook. If placed in any other order, the caretak-

ers immediately regain full hit points.

The Twisted GuardianThe Great Seed is the size of a goose egg, with the feel and jewel-like sheen of a flawless em-erald. If closely examined, a small spark of light can be seen glowing deep in its center. The Great Seed is a magic item, and anyone holding it can cast enlarge/reduce the size of any plant. The Great Seed must be touched to the targeted plant, and the effect does not require concentration to maintain. In all other regards it works the same as the spell of the same name.

When the seed is revealed Harker - a half-human, half-plant druid - emerges from a nearby tree. This twisted druid has been conducting experiments on the island, trying to alter the growth of the Great Seed. These attempts failed and accidentally poisoned the entire island. Unwilling to admit his failure, Harker re-animated the treant’s dead form as a rotting husk that obeys him

When he appears, Harker declares his in-tent to claim the seed, and commands the dead treant to arise and attack.

The treant husk has the stats of a giant scorpion, with the Plant type. Harker is a druid with the following spell substitutions: hold person and flaming sphere in place of animal messenger and barkskin; and healing word in place of speak with animals. He also possess the Plant type, has an alignment of neutral evil, and has the natural ability to cast transport via plants once per day. The druid targets anyone near the Seed with hold person, attempting to claim the artifact for himself. If Harker gets a hold of the seed he uses it to enlarge himself, followed by the treant husk.

If Harker and the husk are defeated, his magic fades and his poisons leave the island. If planted here, the Seed will quickly sprout, and eventually grow into a new treant. Alter-natively, Tykus can sell the Seed to a collector of magical items for the princely sum of 6,000 gold pieces. The choice, as always, is up to the party.

The Plant KingdomThis small islet is, in truth, the last ves-tige of the Plant Kingdom - a vast em-pire that ruled the world long before the coming of men and other beasts.

In the earliest days, when all was new and the gods walked among their creation, it was the plants who stirred to life first. A vast and complex society of intelligent flora ruled the world unopposed for years beyond count - devising magics and creating vast structures that are wondrously strange to modern creatures.

Yom is the last of the Princes of the Treants - royalty of ancient lineage, reduced to the lordship of a tiny island that had once been a lofty mountaintop before the oceans formed.

Planting the Great Seed on the isle allows the Plant Kingdom to linger on, otherwise its reign comes to a close.

The marid visited Yom many times, and knows much of this lore. If the genie is not questioned, Tykus can act as an alternative source for history regarding the mysterious Isle Green.
