Before the Throne
Praise the Lord for resources I needed to purchase a home in our community.
Pray for Ukarumpa Interna8onal School as they decide how to handle a shortage of math teachers for the fall semester.
Pray as I begin to prepare to go home on furlough (in December). There are many things that I need to get lined up, such as where I’ll live, a car to drive, schooling for teaching cer8fica8on, raising support, etc.
Wycliffe Vision (This is an excerpt from a letter from Wycliffe’s president, Bob Creson)
“In 1999, we (SIL and Wycliffe) adopted Vision 2025—a Bible transla8on in progress in every language community needing it by 2025. That was a bold step, and we all knew it came with a commitment to change the way we worked...
Since then we have been pleased to watch this commitment translated into ac8on through cluster projects, computer adapta8on, and other innova8ons that have delivered the Scriptures to more people faster than ever. Along with you, we’ve watched new transla8on programs started and the number of needed transla8on programs drop.
In October, for the first 8me ever, that number dropped below 2,000! The official transla8on need is now 1,967. For the first 8me there are more transla8on programs in progress than there are transla8on needs. More people have more access to Scripture than in any previous genera8on.
While reflec8ng on the number of starts is exci8ng, it is also sobering because it means we have more to finish!
Wycliffe and SIL exist to eradicate Bible poverty so that all language communi8es will have the opportunity to be transformed by God¹s Word and ul8mately reflect God¹s glory. Vision 2025 was a commitment to change, not just for the sake of change, but to change so that this life-‐changing Word reaches people sooner rather than later.”
My PartI’m not a translator, so why is my role so important? As the manager of the Finance Office, I get to help those who are on the front lines of transla8on work by looking out for the funds that come through our organiza8on here. I make sure others who work with our organiza8on have informa8on and resources they need to handle finances without problems.
For one hour each day, I teach an 8th grade math class. Our school is very important to our community. We have a large number of families, and if it weren’t for Ukarumpa Interna8onal School, they would have to homeschool, taking away from their transla8on or support work. Acer this school year, two of our math teachers go on furlough -‐ so next semester it’s even more important that I’m able to teach at least one class.
In October, for the firsttime ever, the number of needed translation
programs droppedto below 2,000!

coming up...
I still have 8 months left in my first term in PNG, but I’ve already had to start planning for
going on furlough in December. My work permit and visa expire in November, so I have to get those renewed. I have registered for
Wycliffe Connection (a week-long introduction back into life in America).
Now it’s time to figure out what I need to do to get certified to teach when I return to PNG. I also have to work out where exactly I’ll live
while I’m in America and what car I could drive. If you have any good ideas where I could get a
car to use for 13 months, let me know!
Love,
Brandy
Joys of Owning a HomeThe last few months, I’ve put a lot of work into my new house. Slowly, I’ve been able to work on making it look and feel like home to me. I painted, had the floors re-‐finished, knocked out a wall, and had a few homey items from Target shipped to me (most of what was in the house was so moldy it made the house not liveable)! I love walking in to my house acer a long day at work.
One thing I was not expec8ng, though, was having to buy a new water pump. Each house in our community collects rain water in a large tank. Then a pump carries the water from the large tank to a smaller tank on top of the house. Gravity feeds the water down into the house for running water. Without that pump, my house can’t use the water that’s been collected! A couple weeks ago my old pump broke and I had to buy a new one. Hopefully this one will last for many years to come.
I had to say goodbye to one of my favorite families a few
weeks ago. Iʼm going to miss these boys so
much!Our high school
did a production of “The Importance
of Being Earnest.” They were
amazing - and I got to help with
hair and makeup!
Final ThoughtsLately God has been showing me just how blessed I truly am. And I don’t need to ask him for those blessings -‐ he’s already given them! So I leave you with these words from the apostle Paul...
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing the the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the founda?on of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him... For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revela?on in the knowledge of him...” (Ephesians 1: 3-‐4, 15-‐17)
