Before School Each Morning
• Before bringing your child to school / putting
them on a bus
– Temperature check
– Check list of how their child is feeling, etc.
• Our nurse will provide parents a sheet
– Stay home if a child has a 100.4 or higher temp or is
displaying any flu like symptoms.
• Home daily screenings are essential to keeping
everyone safe and healthy
• Your child’s temperature will be taken at school
on their arrival
• They will not be permitted into the school if
they have a temperature or are showing any flu
like symptoms
1st Week of School• Bus students should keep their bus tags
on their book bag to and from school.
Your teacher will provide this tag on the
first day. Be sure it stays attached to their
book bag each day!
• Parents of walkers may drop students off
at the doors at 9:00 a.m.
**No student will be permitted into the
school until 9:00 a.m.
• Mask (gators not permitted)
• Pencil box/pouch
** If parents choose to supply the following items they may, but they will be provided by the teacher
• Pencils
• Crayons
• Scissors
• Glue sticks
• Small packs of tissues are also a good idea.
• Earbuds/headphones
• Washable markers
• Crate• Backpack
• Please provide your child with a reusable
water bottle to use throughout the day-
they will not be able to refill at school or
use the water fountain at school.
• Water is the only thing that is permitted
(no soda, juice, tea, etc.)
• Label with your child’s name someplace
**The Parent Group is providing one water bottle to
each student but students must bring in a water bottle
with fresh water daily.
Spare Clothes
• It is a great idea to put a spare change of
clothes in your child’s backpack
– Gallon baggie
– Labeled with their name
– Grade and Teacher’s name
• Sometimes they need clothes because
there was a milk spill at lunch, water on
the slide at recess, had an accident, etc.
Label everything…
• Make sure to label backpacks, lunch
boxes, jackets, crayon boxes, etc.
*everything your child brings to school.
• It would not hurt to have an index card in
your child’s backpack with their name,
address, and a phone number where a
parent/guardian can be reached, the name
of the teacher, and how your child gets
home from school.
• Breakfast begins at 9:00. If your child will be eating breakfast at school, he/she should grab a “bag to go” of breakfast and go directly to their classroom to eat.
• School breakfast and lunch will be free to all students this year.
• If at any time you have questions regarding your child’s account, please contact Lori Frey at 759-6400 x.3111.
• Each student will provide a snack for themselves
each day. Keep your child’s snack in their book
bag, in the same spot daily. They will get it out at
snack time.
• Snacks should be
– kept simple
– nutritious
– individually wrapped
**Your child will have to be able to
open their own snack daily
• If your child will be absent or late due to an illness or appointment, please call the office at 759-6400 ext. 3601 before 9:15 a.m. When your child arrives back at school, you need to send a written excuse or doctor’s excuse.
• If a bus student is not riding the bus home on a certain day, a note is required. If a note is not received, the child will be sent home on the bus.
• If a child is to be picked up early, he/she must be picked up at the office and signed out by an adult.
* * If someone other than the “regular person” is going to pick up your child, a note must be sent to the office.
• Kindergarteners are dismissed at 3:15. This time is 5 minutes earlier than the older students. It is important that you be on time to pick up your child.
• Please be ready and waiting around the kindergarten playground. There will be one gate to enter and one gate to exit, please abide by the signage.
• Students will be taken to the office if the person picking them up does not arrive.
• If your kindergarten child has an older sibling, the older sibling will come down to the kindergarten wing to pick up the kindergartener and come out the kindergarten doors together.
**Please be patient as dismissal will be challenging this year
• Call the school before coming & you must wear a mask
• Parents will only be permitted into the building in an
emergency- you may drop off items or wait in vestibule to
pick up your child
• If you need to enter the building you may not park in the
student drop off circle.
• All parents entering the building must park in the
Washington Street parking lot in front of the building or off
Sycamore Street.
• Once your child is picked up, please leave promptly and be
curtious to everyone.
• Check and pack your child’s backpack the night before. Your child will be receiving a traveling folder. This folder will travel back and forth to school with your child. Please be sure to check the folder each day.
**On the last day of the week a “Weekly Note” will be sent home informing you of events for the upcoming week.
• Dress your child appropriately. We go outside for recess in all types of weather, except rain. No child is allowed to stay indoors for recess unless there is a doctor’s excuse. When the air conditioning is on it can get chilly for some students. You may want to send a sweater. No clogs or flip flops due to danger of accidents.
• Be positive.– Give your child a smile and a hug, tell her/him you love them, and wave goodbye.
• Help your child say goodbye.– Saying goodbye in a new setting can be frightening for some children. When you say
goodbye (either at the bus or at school), reassure your child that you will see her later.
Mention a specific time and a concrete activity, for example “We will have a special dinner
tonight after school.”
• Avoid behaviors that might upset your child. – For example, try not to:
• Cry as you wave to your child through the bus window.
• Argue with the bus driver who may be late the first few days. (The drivers need time to
learn the route and talk to anxious parents.)
• Battle with your child about an outfit you want her to wear. (She doesn’t have to be the
school fashion queen.)
• Force your child to eat a big breakfast. (She may be nervous and it might be better to
eat lightly than to have a stomachache, for the first couple of days).
• Wait to ask the teacher your specific questions.– The first day of school is not the time to bombard the teacher with personal requests and
information. Remember, your child is one of 20 children. Trust that the teacher is a
professional who will make your child feel welcome and help her/him feel like a member of
the classroom community.
