Overall Studio Progress

I notice many of you are involve with kaed fest. As i support you guys doing it, it should not be an excuse for notperforming in your studio projects. I would expected deliverable as normal / usual.

I've received complains of a few student who have not been parcipating / contributing to the groupworks. I havemy eyes on everyone. Make sure you stop being lazy now and start to changing your attitude, otherwise, it willbe reflected on your markings.

Remember, if your are good at designing, it will will give no meaning without the right attitde.

Feedback on Site Analysis last Friday

Salam & Hi Guys,

Thank you for your effort in last presentation. However, the panel felt that you guys have not done enough for the said exercise. Below are some of the main important thing to be covered;

Precedent Studies

Group 1

1. As Jasmeet commented, the casestudy at Finas lacks of architectural information and should includesome sketches

2. The rest of the studies are well executed3. Presentation verbally you are not well prepared.

Group 2

1. Its good to have KRU as the case studies, only you guys should include more sketches in thepresentation boards.

2. Your material study looks promising but again, as we commented, it should be complemented withsample of good buildings that has used the material, so that we can see how far can the said materialcan be used in your MACMI

Group 3

1. Universal studios looks to huge as a case study. You could have consulted us before deciding on thatbuilding

2. Good study on KLPac but again, as other groups is lacking - the sketches!

1. Good case study but you should have taken the Hong Kong Ferry Terminal as your case study for theopen public space topic

Group 5

1. I love all your presentation boards and all the group should be looking at your boards as benchmark.Simple yet presentable information.

2. Both case studies and well executed.

Site Analysis

1. To much text in presetation boards2. Text allignment & spacing can been seen as main problems.3. Just text & images with only one diagram which is not enough!4. Refer back to site analysis board5. You should include your sketches from urban trail in your boards, contributed by everyone.6. Establish your site with surrounding landmarks, inludes distances, minutes to site, and perhaps radius of

coverage from any transportation hub.7. Everything on good,bad & ugly things on site should be covered.8. Be more sensitive on what you guys proposed.

In short, the site analysis part needs a major overhaul and resubmit it by FRI 9 a.m. After that we are going todiscuss about the design brief. Don't stay up to complete things, who sleep in class this friday i will ask to standon the table untill the class finish!

Reports

1. Rewrite all reports in your own sentence. I don't want those long paragraphs copy & paste from theinternet. Write what you guys found, what you learnt. It can be in point form.

2. Send me a PDF copy first before and wait till i approve before you guys can print them.

Multimedia & Powerpoint

1. All groups should present using powerpoint. Means, you have to do it all again and submit to me. 1group should submit one powerpoint only.

2. All files should be submitted in proper folders, according to filetypes & images, etc. Learn how to submitthings in proper order. Its all about management of all file you have.

3. Thumbs Up on the video (except the model in the video :P), it summaries on the context in and aroundthe site.

You guys should check out the site analysis done by the 4th year!

Friday Requirement

I expect everyone will bring at 9.am sharp, all the drawings that i've requested on Monday. I will mark thesedrawings as progressive marks.

Site Plan 1:500

Plan : 1:200

Sections : 1:200

Elevations : 1:200

Site Section : 1: 200

Progress development model ( you should now have at least 6 progress model in total)

Note that all should be done in manual!No retracing back from sketchup. Note that those whom i did like that onCRIT 1, i gave D straight away.

For friday, if you don't have the drawing, please don't come to class. Of course not attendance. I won't beshouting in studio anymore.

Last monday, i've sent 17 warning letters amongst all of you, and i'm warning you as the week goes on, if youmiss or late to class, i will barr you from the studio.

In 5 years teaching in uia, i only failed 1 student (CAD ,last semester), never gave warning letters, but it seemsthat statistic is going to change this semester. Yes it will if you guys still 'lemau'!

Those days, if my lecturer gave us dateline, we don't even dare to come to class if we don't have the drawings. Iguess the culture has change nowadays. This is not happening just in our studio, but average all years inKaed.Since no one respect my request on submission datelines, please do not comments on my marking.

The cad studio manager will set a standard pen style for all in our studio. This is to minimise problems of printingtowards the end of semester.

Everyone will get back to your groups and study the followings. I've brief the group leader and the shall givemore information on this matter.

Release of Results

Salam to All,

I hate to release this final mark but i had to after few series of marking sessions. Department has decided thatnon-submission status remains the same and the only thing you guys can do right now is appeal.

I won't entertain anymore request to see me as i believe, the appeal process will decide on your marks.

The external panel agrees that overall performance of your design output are pretty low after browsing your finalworks.

With this decision i know that i will face a lot of inquiries, from your parents, the dean, rector and prime minister perhaps ( as some of your parent already threatening to do so :).

This is my second time failing students, but tragically it ends with big numbers.
