As a part of our Baptist Men’s Day observance this year, we have invited Kent Ostrander to be our guest speaker at our 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. services this Sunday. Kent serves as the executive director of the Family Foundation of Kentucky whose mission is to “promote the values and policies that strengthen Kentucky families.” Through the publication of a bi-monthly newsletter called The

Kentucky Citizen, the Family Foundation has sought to keep persons more aware of the pro-life, gambling, and marriage legislation in Frankfort that greatly affects our families. In fact, Kent was one of the first persons the media interviewed after Governor Bevin signed into law last week pro-life legislation that bans abortions after twenty weeks and requires a woman to see her ultrasound before having an abortion. Speaking of the sanctity of life, we will be distributing baby bottles this Sunday on behalf of Avenues for Women in Frankfort. Much like we did last year, we’re asking you to financially support the work of this local crisis pregnancy center as it ministers to women facing an unwanted pregnancy and encourages them to choose life. Last but not least, I hope you will join us this Sunday night as we continue in our series entitled: “Walking By Faith: Overcoming Life’s Greatest Fears.” This Sunday night, we will look at “Overcoming the Fear of Suffering” and will be hearing the testimony of Nick Maples who recently was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Afterwards, you’re invited to a “Just Desserts” Fellowship in the CLC sponsored by the ladies of our church who will be bringing cakes, pies, and all kinds of delicious desserts! In His Service, Bro. Bob

Worship Music for Baptist Men’s Day Sunday (January 15) This Sunday morning our guest

speaker (Kent Ostrander) will be preaching the message for BOTH a.m. services! Our praise team will

lead the music of the Contemporary service at 8:30 a.m. The Hims of Harmony will be in the Choir Loft

for the 10:50 a.m. service! Hims please wear your red shirts. Michael and Lance will play the instruments at

the Traditional service at 10:50 a.m. The Hims will share 3 songs throughout the course of that service!

Bro. Bob will continue his sermon series on “overcoming fear” with the theme: “Overcoming the Fear of

Suffering,” and a testimony by Nick Maples! Annie Lee and Lydia Terry will share a duet during that 6:00 p.m.

service! Lance and Michael will play again that night!

The Worship Choir Begins Work on Easter Music THIS Wednesday (Jan. 18) This Wednesday we will do a

preview “run through” of our new Easter music at 5:45! We will be working to prepare this music to present on

Palm Sunday morning, April 9, as the traditional worship service at 10:50 a.m.

Please Remember That Handbell Choirs Won’t Resume Until Next Week Youth Handbells will start up

again on Tuesday, Jan. 24, after school from 3:30 to 4:30. And Children’s Handbells will begin again that

Thursday, Jan. 26, after school from 3:30 to 4:30. Yours in Christ, Mark

We had a great time at Winter Jam in Louisville last weekend! It was an awesome time of Worship, and we were able to see some of the leading Christian artists perform. I think that most of our student’s favorite performer of the night was David Crowder. We really had a fun night!

This Sunday night after youth, we are going to Dairy Queen for a time to hang out together. We will be riding together there, and the plan is to be back at church by 9:00. Make sure your students bring money for food and ice cream. In Christ, Joel

On Wednesday Nights we have been talking about Kevin & Dinda - two Indonesian children we will be sponsoring as a children's ministry. Each of our kids has been challenged to try and bring $2 every month - one for both Kevin and Dinda. This money goes to Compassion International to ensure Kevin and Dinda have food, clean water, clothes, are getting an education, and are hearing about Jesus.

This is a great way to get your child thinking about missions and being more globally-minded. On Monday, Jan. 16th we will be going to Main Event in Louisville, KY for some bowling, Laser tag, and arcade fun. The cost is $17 ($12 for activities and $5 for food), and we will be meeting to leave from the church at 9:45am. Pick up a permission slip and turn the money in to myself or the church office by Sunday, Jan. 15th. Cheerfully in Christ, Jeremy

At our last monthly business meeting, Keith Currens reported for the master plan committee. After two years of study, the committee is recommending a plan that will address the top facility needs as identified by our congrega-

tion: the construction of a two-story building that will provide educational space for children and youth as well as the renovation of our Fireside Room and kitchen. It will also include a covered entrance, a welcome center, and a secure check-in area for parents to drop off their children. Copies of the plan are available on the literature table by the elevator. Please look it over and give any feedback you may have to members of the committee.
