March Gatherings…
Pretzel Sunday to Ash Wednesday to Lenten Lunches…
Pretzel Sunday was held during Sunday School on February 26th. The children/
youth of all ages made pretzels for Lent.
These will be available for pick up on Wednesday, March 1st at the Ash Wednesday
service. We encourage all families to attend this special service in which the con-
firmands have a special part. Childcare is provided for younger ones in the pre-
school room by our regular Wednesday night quality care providers.
Wednesday Lenten Lunches are again being shared by the churches of the Minis-
terial Association from noon to one o’clock weekly during lent. A complete schedule
with details will be shared as an insert at worship and will be available at the church
office. We encourage you to attend each week as we share the Lenten season to-
gether with our fellow Christians. Our church family is hosting on Wednesday, April
5th. Join us weekly!
St. Patrick’s Day Paint Party!
Friday, March 17th, 2017 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
All ages invited, children and youth too!
Large tiled room downstairs… join us for a fun evening…
sign up now to reserve your spot and select the art style you prefer to
have!
Cost is $15 and includes snacks, art supplies, tax, and fun!
This will be a fun night for all ages as we will create a piece of art to use
over the spring/Easter months. We will celebrate with a brief story about
St. Patrick, enjoy some "green treats" and head home with art to hang/
share. These times allow us to build relationships with those in our church
family and also allow us to invite friends to visit our church home.

Our church kitchen is being remodeled!
Our church kitchen will be closed until approximately
Friday, March 10, 2017 for remodeling.
Work on our kitchen began Monday, February 13, 2017. The general contrac-tor, all the subcontractors and teams were on board moving equipment, running wir-ing, fixing plumbing, etc. The new cabinetry is being set and the stove exhaust and vent installed. As with all remodeling jobs, a few unexpected problems have arisen, but we will make it through this remodel and enjoy our new kitchen!

One Call Prayer Ministry:
All who were already on the prayer chain will be added to the new one call prayer ministry,
unless you let us know otherwise.
We welcome and invite others to join this prayer ministry….all ages and people welcome.
How this will work: As a prayer request comes to the church, via the one requesting prayer,
a one call will be sent with the prayer request. All who receive the call are asked to stop
and pray for the request and keep that request in your prayers.
Prayer is a powerful way to have conversation with God and all are welcome to pray.
Sign up at the Welcome Center to be added to the prayer ministry.
The Seward Optimist Club is hosing a jazz concert
Saturday, March 25th with Dr. Rex Cadwallader to

Help raise funds for upgrading the heating and air condi-
tioning for the offices, fellowship hall, BBCDC and base-
ment. 50% of all sales will go to the church and ALL funds
will go to the Short Term Improvement Fund. You can pick
up an order form from the church and take to work or sell
to your family and friends. Order forms and money will be
turned in by March 26th and the order will be compiled
and submitted by the end of March. Items should be re-
ceived within 2-3 weeks. We do have to charge sales tax
on all orders and the money is collected in advance. All
checks are made payable to SUMC. BBCDC children, Sun-
day School kids and anyone interested is encouraged to
help.
Everyone Welcome!!!

conversation are served
following both the 8:30 and
10:30 worship services every

DID YOU KNOW? The new wood frame church
of the United Brethren, built in 1880 at the cor-
ner of 6th and Bradford, was dedicated by Bishop
Wright, father of Orville and Wilbur Wright, in-
ventors of the airplane.
Would you like to be part of
a new Technology Com-
mittee? Please sign up at
the Welcome Center.
Did you know our youth fellowship of today was called
Epworth League early in our history? Youth met for
food, fun and worship and went to camp in Seward (often
called the Mosquito Camp). By the 1940’s, Epworth
League was renamed Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF).
District youth rallies were held four times a year at churches in the district. Did you
know that one of the former presidents of the District MYF is still a member of our
congregation?
