Over 50 countries to participate in Global Rosary Relay for Priests A Global Rosary Relay for Priests will take place on June 3rd. Over 100 shrines in more than 50 different countries will play a part in this relay by praying a particular mystery of the Rosary at an allocated time. By midnight on June 3rd, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, the entire world will be ‘encircled in prayer’.
Throughout this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the rosary is being prayed daily at 6.00 p.m. local time in Saint Peter’s Square in Rome. On June 1st, a Jubilee for Priests commences in the Vatican, marking a time of retreat for priests, given by Pope Francis. This three-day event closes on the evening of June 3rd, the feast of the Sacred Heart, coinciding with the Annual Global Rosary Relay for Priests, which is always held on this feast day.
The event is organized by WorldPriest, a lay organization of professional communications people formed in 2003 by Irish lay Carmelite Marion Mulhall to ‘affirm the dignity, beauty and gift of the Priesthood of Jesus Christ in humanity’.
Speaking recently about the Annual Rosary Relay, Archbishop Michael Neary, Archbishop of Tuam and Episcopal Advisor to WorldPriest said: “I am happy to support and highly recommend this wonderful initiative. I believe it has great potential and will bring many spiritual benefits to all involved.”
