Pavone was a friend and spiritual guide to Norma for 22 years and received her into the Catholic Church in 1998. A Sanctuary Lamp burns this week for:

The Trinity is One. We do not confess
three Gods, but one God in three persons, the
“consubstantial Trinity.” The divine persons do not
share the one divinity among themselves but each
of them is God whole and entire: “The Father is
that which the Son is, the Son that which the Father
is, the Father and the Son that which the Holy Spirit
is, that is, by nature one God.”. . .
The divine persons are really distinct from
one another. “God is one but not solitary.”
“Father,” “Son,” “Holy Spirit” are not simply
names designating modalities of the divine being,
for they are really distinct from one another: “He is
not the Father who is the Son, nor is the Son he
who is the Father, nor is the Holy Spirit he who is
the Father or the Son.” They are distinct from one
another in their relations of origin: “It is the Father
who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the
Holy Spirit who proceeds.” The divine Unity is
Triune.
The divine persons are relative to one an-
other. Because it does not divide the divine unity,
the real distinction of the persons from one another
resides solely in the relationships which relate them
to one another: “In the relational names of the per-
sons the Father is related to the Son, the Son to the
Father, and the Holy Spirit to both. While they are
called three persons in view of their relation, we
believe in one nature or substance.” Indeed
“everything (in them) is one when there is no oppo-
sition of relationship.” “Because of that unity the
Father is wholly in the Son and wholly in the Holy
Spirit: the Son is wholly in the Father and wholly
in the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit is wholly in the
Father and wholly in the Son.”

Word of Life
The concerns for non-violence, sustain-
able development, justice and peace, and care
of our environment are of vital importance for
humanity. They cannot, however, be under-
stood apart from a profound reflection upon the
innate dignity of every human life, from
conception to natural death: a dignity
conferred by God Himself and thus inviolable. ~ Pope Benedict XVI, “Welcoming
Celebration by the Young People,” July 17, 2008. © 2008

Thankful for our kindness! During the Pandemic, several parishioners in the parish have offered to help others in the community
to get through some difficult Pandemic times. The parish has given away a substantial amount of money to
small businesses, organizations, and individuals. We are printing some of the responses that we have received
below. Thank you for your concern and generosity at this time, over the past years.
“We wanted to express our gratitude and thanks to all of you for your generous gift. It is a struggle in these times for many and what keeps us going is the kindness shown by people like you that gives us hope. We enjoy the people who patron our business and we plan to continue on as long as we can.”
“Members of Saints Peter and Paul Church, we thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts for the most generous donation. It will help so many people in need after not being able to work.
“Thank you for the gift you gave us. We will use it very wisely.”
“I am not sure what the future will hold (does anyone?) but am feeling more at peace and trusting in God. I know that He gives us one day at a time and to look for the beauty and blessings in it. Thank you for the gift. It was such a surprise and will be put to good use.”
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession):
At this time anyone interested in going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation can call Fr. Ed at the parish
office at 570-265-2113 to make arrangements. At present, we need to figure out a way of maintaining Social
Distancing” if we used the normal procedure.
Mass Attendance:
1. Masses are now open to 25% of occupancy rather than 25 people. Normal parish weekday attend-
ance indicates we can handle social distancing with 25% occupancy so we no longer need to make a
reservation for our weekday Masses.
2. Mass Schedule:
Monday 8:30 am Tuesday & Wednesday 5:00 pm Friday 12:10 pm
Saturday 5:00 pm Sunday 8:00 and 11:00 am
We will continue to follow this day/time schedule through the month of June – except for weekdays
Monday and Tuesday, June 29 -30, 2020, when Fr. Ed will be away in Virginia.
We are also going to video the Saturday 5pm Mass and broadcast this Mass on Sunday.
You are able to view this Mass on youtube anytime at https://youtu.be/mXf2NuR5mY
3. Reservations: With being limited to 25% of occupancy and appropriate social distancing needing
to be maintained, the weekend Masses may create an attendance scheduling challenge. PLEASE: Use
the reservation system for attending the weekend Masses. Possibly consider coming to Mass during
a weekday, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 pm, if your weekend request is not available.
No reservation is necessary for a weekday Mass.
Using the reservation system for a weekend Mass, you are able to reserve a place
throughout the month of June; please be respectful of other’s needs as well as our own desire to
come to a weekend Mass of choice.
For Reservations you can go to
https://tableagent.com/scranton/sts-peter-and-paul/ and create an account, then follow the
directions to make and cancel reservations.
Or, if you are not computer savvy or prefer to use a phone, CALL Kathleen 570-364-5996
ONLY on Thursday or Saturday between 12-3 pm and provide her with the date and number of
people in your party who would like to attend Mass.
