The Pastor’s Corner It’s important our students learn about our local environment, including our abundant oak trees. This last Saturday our parish school students visited some of these oaks directly, namely at River Oaks Golf Course down in Nicolaus. As Saint Isidore’s School hosted our first (not first ever, but first in quite a while) golf tournament, not only were our students helping out but sponsors from all over the region helped to make this sun filled day a success for our parish. Spearheading this event was Julissa de la Torre, who not only brought together an extraordinary ensemble cast, but with her parents hosted the concluding dinner donated by Casa Lupe. Our parish is what it is because of the people, and it’s extraordinary efforts like these that allow us to continue in our mission, and to foster our outreach to others. A special thank you to everyone who participated, and may we continue to see dynamic growth.

boda en grupo, la Misa se celebrará el 1 de diciembre a las 2pm. Las parejas interesadas por favor de llamar o visitar a Paige Westlake en la oficina Parroquial.
El Rincón del Pastor Es importante que nuestros alumnos sepan y conozcan sus alrededores, incluso los arboles robles que tenemos aqui. El sábado pasado, nuestros alumnos de la escuela parroquial visitaron algunos de estos árboles robles en el campo de golf River Oaks en Nicolaus. La escuela de San Isidro organizó su primer torneo de golf (no primero, sino primero en bastante tiempo), no solo nuestros estudiantes, sino tambien patrocinadores de toda la región ayudaron a que este día lleno de sol fuera un éxito para nuestra parroquia. El evento fue dirigido por Julissa de la Torre, que no solo reunió a un extraordinario elenco, sino que junto con sus padres organizaron la cena de clausura donada por el restaurante Casa Lupe. Nuestra parroquia es lo que es debido a la gente, y sus esfuerzos extraordinarios como estos nos permiten continuar en nuestra misión y fomentar nuestro alcance a los demás. Un agradecimiento especial a todos los que participaron, y que continuemos viendo ese crecimiento dinámico.

RCIA- Adult Confirmation
Congratulations to these adults who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. They celebrated their sacrament with Bishop Jaime Soto at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday May 19th. There were 2 locations that day for this sacrament for over 140 adults in the diocese. Thank you to Deacon Ruben, Helen Gomez, Matt Nelson, Edison Kim and Fr. Avram for their time in preparing these adults! Amparo Elicea, Elizbeth Guzman, Flor Rodriguez Jose Perez-Alvarez, Jose Velazquez, Othon Reyes Ramiro Garcia, Silvia Lujano and Timoteo López. If you are missing the Sacrament of Confirmation, we will have another series of classes starting in the Fall.

Graduation Mass: St Isidore's School Graduating class of 2018 would like to invite all of our parishioners to our Graduation Mass on Wednesday, May 30th at 6 pm in the Church. After Mass, we will have speeches by our Valedictorian and Salutatorian and a special class song. Please come join us on this very special occasion as our 28 eighth grade students make their final farewell to St. Isidore School.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION One of the great treasures of the Eastern tradition is the icon of the Holy Trinity created by the Russian iconographer Andrei Rublev in the 1400s. The Trinity is symbolized by the three travelers to the tent of Abraham and Sarah. They are seated at a table blessing a cup of wine, under the oak of Mamre. If you look closely, you will see a sacrificed calf in the chalice, reminding the viewer of the cross. The table, prepared for eating and tilted toward the viewer, is an invitation to the Eucharist. From left to right, each figure is keyed to a person of the Trinity. Like all icons, this image is theology in art. The persons are equal in proportion and dignity, they all carry staffs to symbolize their power, and are shown with golden wings and halos. Today, the best place to see Rublev’s work is the Holy Trinity Cathedral, at the heart of the vast Holy Trinity monastery about an hour from Moscow. After decades of persecution, it is now once again a living monastery, a world heritage site, and the spiritual home of Russian Orthodoxy. A Google visit is highly recommended today! —Rev. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE La mayoría de los cristianos fuimos bautizados en nuestra infancia o niñez en nombre de la Santísima Trinidad; es por eso que continuamente hay que recordar y aceptar nuestro bautismo y el reto de vivir según el Espíritu de Jesús como hijos e hijas de Dios. Esto se hace cada vez que nos persignamos o santiguamos con la señal de la santa cruz. Así mismo, nuestra fe y religión cristiana esta fundamentada en la Santísima Trinidad y cada persona que entra en nuestra familia tiene que pasar por la cruz y la resurrección. La señal de la cruz la trazamos en nuestro cuerpo desde la frente hasta nuestro vientre; del hombro derecho al hombro izquierdo— poniendo nuestro corazón casi al centro de este misterio. Muchos latinos terminan la señal poniendo el pulgar sobre el índice en forma de cruz y besándola confirmando el amor que nosotros tenemos por la cruz de Jesús y el hecho que cargamos en nuestros cuerpos el efecto de esa cruz, la reconciliación con Dios.
